Would this shirt get me into trouble in class?

I saw this and thought it was awesome... Do you think I could get into trouble by wearing this to school? We are able to wear t-shirt's on Mondays now that we are in our second semester. I don't want someone to take offense and cause an issue...

I think it’s both tacky and tactless.

Tacky- the design is not great. It’s text heavy and unbalanced. That and a white background is going to be unflattering on most body types.

Tactless- can I be honest generally the person wearing the nurse or emt T-shirt is not the nurse I want. They tend to be self important and over confident. Same goes for T-shirt’s that proclaim religious beliefs. I find that often the shirt is not a corresponding label. Not saying that about you, but that’s right where my mind goes.

It's inappropriate. Religion, money, sex, are not subjects to casually "advertise", even with family and close friends.

What would you think if a fellow student wore a shirt saying, "Mohammad saves souls, LPN's save lives"?

The first part isn't the part that makes me cringe, regardless of whatever deity was mentioned, it's the second part that is just...uh, no! I can't stand any shirts with this type of saying. I agree it smacks of ego and over-confidence and makes the wearer look like a tool. Sorry to tinkle on your wheaties OP. I'm sure you're excited about your future, and we're excited for you, but you will find that most nurses prefer a more humble approach.

I see nothing at all wrong with it. If people are that sensitive they don't have to look at it. Jesus is about Love. Isn't that what we all want?

Tacky is being offended by someone's right to religious expression. Jesus is now a trigger word? I don't care if he has Mohammed, or the Buddha on his shirt that's his right to self expression. It doesn't make him arrogant. Nursing t-shirts usually have the word "saves lives" in some form or fashion. Have you met the OP personally, @Sour Lemon? how do you know that he is "obnoxious. @Alex Egan how do you know that OP is "self important." or @osceteacher "self aggrandizing." So much lack of tolerance.

If it's attention you want, it's attention you'll get. A tight push up bustier would probably have a similar effect. It's your wardrobe, though...have at it.

And even your user name proclaims your evangelical Christian beliefs and the lack of tolerance for other people's reproductive rights and decisions about their own body.

I see no reason for the OP to go into nursing school carrying a flaming badge of her religious beliefs and arrogance about her profession that will prejudice many of her instructors and fellow students against her at the get go. Of course, if the OP doesn't care about whether people like her, respect her or trust her, she is free to do as she chooses. But there are lots of people out there who do not believe as she does, and who may be put off. I think it's a bad decision to wear such a T shirt outside one's home unless one is going directly to one's church without a stop at the gas station or a 7-11 along the way.

That's just me. Your milage may vary. But someone who goes to school wearing that T shirt and then complains that the other students, her instructors and her school's or work's administration are "picking on her" will get very little sympathy from me.

The original question was whether the T-shirt would get the OP into trouble at school, and the answer is yes, it will, unless she attends a pretty homogeneous Christian school. State schools may send her home to change clothes, ask her to wear a sweater over the shirt, and explain to her that such proclamations have no room in the patient care environment. Others may disagree with the sentiments expressed on the shirt, and it may be uncomfortable for the Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist or atheist patient to be cared for by a caregiver wearing that sentiment. They may believe, perhaps rightly, that the OP is looking down upon them, their beliefs, their religion.
