I passed the Med-Surg Certification Exam!!!!! For the second time.
I was seriously worried. With good reason. I didn't do well in some Biophysical and Psycholsocial Concepts, but kicked but in Patient Care Issues and Issues and Trends!
Maybe this time I won't let it expire. :)
Thanks everyone for their well wishes!
When I got moved to RNIII, which is a charge nurse position, with other responibilities they asked for either a BSN or certification. I opted for the certification as I'm an ADN grad.
traumaRUs, BSN's are not required for all specialty certifications. There was going to be that requirement, but that would have cut off too many people wanting certification and too much revenue for them., so they made some changes, but dropped the BSN-only idea. For the med-surg for example there is a Board Certificied Med-Surg Nurse, which is a different test for those with a BSN.
Then there is the Certified Med-Surg. Nurse, which is me. An ADN grad.
Some of the specialties however require BSN's, but not all. Some have two distinct tests, one for the BSN and one for the ADN.
(I'm sure it all came down to the money they would loose by requiring all BSNs)
go tweety, go tweety, go tweety...congratulations!originally posted by 3rdshiftguyi passed the med-surg certification exam!!!!! for the second time.
