I just gradurated in june of this yr as an LPN, Would love to go on to RN school, but not sure because of my age. Does any one know anything about this bridge program LPN to RN and how long it takes and if you can do this on line in one yr. I have my first job as a LPN in a Nursing care facility full time, Just wondering if I should take the time and money and move forward when I have maybe 15 yrs to work.
Debating on what to do!!
Well, as someone else once said in reference to essentially the same question,(ie If I go back to school I'd be 60 when I graduate) Answer: How old will you be if you DON'T go?! Age is relative. It's about confidence. If you can do LVN/LPN you can do RN. I'm in the same position, only this is a totally new career path for me. Somewhat daunting, but I like challenges. RN pays better than LVN & offers more opportunities. If you want it, go for it! I guess it comes down to whether you'd look back & regret it if you DIDN'T go. Maybe there should be a special board or whatever here for us 40+ers! Our own cheerleading group!
Go for it! The program I'm in is at a community college and only takes one year :) I have found that community colleges are cheaper and they expect more from you (in a good way). Since nursing is a life long career you could get your RN and still work for quite a while! I hope this helps!

My mom went into an RN program (experience only in IT work) and did well. We had a 55 year old male in my program. I knew a 65 year old nun in my LPN program, too. You are never too old if you have your health and mind.

I go to school with a lady who is 68 years old. She is doing just fine in her classes. Your never to old to do learn something new. Go for it! :wink2:
