Why are so many people today shunning real medicine, vaccines etc for hoaxes and gimmicks like essential oils, weight loss powders, etc? Any ideas why so many are turning away from actual medicine?
What do you mean? I wasn’t trying to insult anyone, I used the term witchcraft because I didn’t think anyone still believed in that. My parents raised me to believe in logic and science. They scoff heavily at religious people, but I have Christian friends. Even if I think it’s silly I respect their views. My daddy always asks them how their imaginary friends are doing and it makes me mad!

I love when children troll forums. Good luck in your future career in medicine, you're going to need it.
I’m not trolling.. I’m very respectful of people’s views in person even if I do not agree. It’s why my dad makes me angry. It upsets my friends and they don’t want to come over anymore. I told him it’s fine that he thinks they’re stupid or whatever but don’t tell them they’re stupid to their face.

My grandma-in-law practices Wicca (but she doesn't use essential oils and she takes her blood pressure medication). It's very much alive and real across America and much of the world. Definitely something to look into because you truly do not want to be culturally insensitive. If you ever get the chance to visit the Boston area I highly recommend a trip to the Salem Witch Museum in Salem, MA. Great learning experience!

When I was her age I was much worse. But I've changed a great deal. We all should be learning and growing no matter what our age is. As a human being, she is allowed to make mistakes, we all are. Perhaps she can learn some things by those of us who are more experienced. In this forum, we should encourage the young to becomes good nurses. If anything, she posted a thread that has brought attention to this important subject.

I just think it's intentional. ?♀️ As someone who incorporates Wiccan practices into their life, without pointy hats or living in "Halloweentown," her comments are discriminatory and immature for a 23 year old who wants to eventually provide care for other humans.
It isn't about bringing attention to the use of alternative medicine; it's everything said since.
In nursing programs, a common ethical dilemma discussed is the inability of Jehovah's Witnesses to use blood products as life-saving treatment. Would you be callous to a patient to their face because Magic Sky Daddy says they cannot accept a blood transfusion?
Same difference. It's the acknowledgement of religious beliefs. You don't have to like or agree with what someone believes in, but you do have to accept it.

Halloweentown is nowhere near the actual practice of pagan religions- it is purely entertainment. Please educate yourself. This type of comment as well as your inflammatory title will only cause you grief if you don't educate yourself.

Yikes. Now I hope this is a troll because you just announced to a whole forum of people that you weren't raised to be respectful.
Religion is a cultural and ethnic thing. Don't be discriminatory.
