Anyone starting RN-PMHNP for Summer 21’?

Specializes in Maternal Child Health.

I am starting the PMHNP program this Summer.  I would love to hear from anyone that is currently in the program.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I am in my 2nd semester and so far I’m loving it. Of course you have to have lots of self discipline to read and make time for assignments but the work is reasonable.

Specializes in Maternal Child Health.

That is great to hear!  What have you taken so far?  Are you working?  I completed and ADN to BSN program last year and did well making time for the assignments.  I took 12-13 credit hours per semester and worked full time.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I just finished my first semester @Wilkes, Research and Advanced Pathophysiology classes. just want to say "amazing", yes of course, its not easy but Prof. are so helpful and dedicated to help you to go through your very first semester ? I am looking forward to begin my Summer semester in May 2021. any questions? let me know!!

Awesome. I got accepted into the May 2021 cohort. They’re evaluating my transcript because I have 3 graduate level courses that I want to transfer in. I thought advanced physical assessment was the first course. I really just want to know what books I should start looking for. Is there a facebook group for the 2021 cohort?

I also finished my first semester (research and Patho). There are several facebook groups and I do know I saw somewhere your cohort started one! Maybe look for may 2021 or Summer 2021 PMHNP Wilkes? I will try to find it!

Great to hear! I will be starting Fall 2021... I know someone who did not have this same experience and may not have passed advanced patho, he/she said the professors were not helpful and just gave them a lot of information to study but no clarification, is this true?

From what people have indicated in the facebook group, it varies a lot from professor to professor, as there are many sections of each course all with different professors.  Some offer more help than others. Some grade more strictly than others and have expectations that go beyond the syllabus.  You don't get to choose your instructors in the program anymore so it is luck of the draw it a way.
