HELLO EVERYONE! ?
I would like to know if there is anyone out there that will be applying at -------->>>>>>
Wilkes U for Fall 2021(BSN-MSN PMHNP). If anyone is attending this program please share your experience..
I would like to share info I have gathered so far: (please correct me if I am wrong):
- 42 credits / 2.5 to 3yrs to complete the program
-Tuition: $728/cr
-Fully Online / One Course (NSG 500: Adv Health Assessment) requires a short 2 day residency in November. Specific days will be posted on 7/15.
-This program is not a strictly cohorted program / program is flexible.
-You will receive info on preceptors 4 months prior to the start of your schedule clinical rotation
-Clinical hrs: 500 hrs (w/ 50 of those hrs in Peds)
-Need to maintain a 3.0 overall GPA in courses
~~I have couple of questions:
1)If you are a NON-resident, how much approx did you spend?
2)Please can you post it on here or PM your schedule that you followed?
~~~PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ANY MORE INFO THAT IS NOT MENTIONED. THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE! STAY SAFE ?
I just spoke to admissions today and she told me that they find clinical placement for you - but I just read from someone on one of the boards that they don't find placement for you and they were having trouble finding preceptors.
She also told me that if due to covid the preceptor is unable to have you they will find placement elsewhere. Again, from a post that I read, students are having difficulty finding preceptors due to covid.
So, I am curious if something changed in the last few months or if I received the wrong information?
I am waiting for a response from the student that was having difficulty finding a preceptor- I'll keep you updated.
thank you @SykeRn0213 ?
A student replied back stating that some are having difficulty finding preceptors and even have to pay preceptors to accept them. I emailed the admissions counselor asking if she could explain why the current students have to find their own.
I am hoping they just redesigned the program for new oncoming students. I am waiting to hear back from the admissions counselor.
If you hear anything please let me know ?
I am actually wondering If in 2021, they are expected to find preceptors. Because another student on here is starting Fall 2020 and she has to find her own preceptors. I wonder if there is just going to be a change next year.
@SykeRn0213Unfortunately I heard the same that students will need to find their own preceptors.. Are you applying for Wilkes Fall 2021?
I actually heard from the admissions recruiter that anyone applying aug 31 2020 and beyond will have their department team find preceptors for them! I would like to start sooner now. I am trying to start sometime this year, if not beginning of next year! What about yourself?
still deciding...but looks like fall 2021 for now.. are you doing MSN PMHNP or DNP?
MSN PMHNP- but I have my Masters so depending on which classes transfer I may be getting my post masters....what about you?
Well, you'll be able to have the support from the school to help find you preceptors which is a huge bonus, especially with COVID and all the uncertainties. Keep in touch, just in case we end up starting together ?
Well thats great that you have your Masters ? ..I will be going for BSN-MSN (don't have a masters)..If you start on Fall 2021 let me know ?
Will do! ?
