  1. I am in my third semester and have had no video lectures. It is very much an instructor led, but self-taught program. In my experience instructors are very happy to have zoom meetings, etc. if help is needed.
  2. Exams are proctored through a program that records sound and video. You must scan the room before starting the exam. The cost is $15/exam, but exam courses only have 3-4 exams.
  3. I also finished my first semester (research and Patho). There are several facebook groups and I do know I saw somewhere your cohort started one! Maybe look for may 2021 or Summer 2021 PMHNP Wilkes? I will try to find it!
  4. They plan to handle it on a semester by semester basis. According to my zoom meeting, they will be doing this upcoming semester’s school meeting remotely.
  5. I applied to the Spring 2021 program, but like you stated, I’m a little nervous about the lack of admission requirements and large class size. I’m surprised there is no interview and/or references required. To be honest, I’m applying solely for the Guaranteed clinical placement. The program itself does seem good, but the class descriptions are basically the same as any other PMHNP program descriptions.
  6. I do think they evaluate grades and work history, but honestly it seemed to me if you checked all those boxes you’re in. I emailed last week about acceptance rates, etc. When they reply back I’ll make sure to update here!
  7. No, they don’t. Their website has it all laid out! Did your counselor not set you up with an application and ‘next steps’ email? I would just email and ask for one!
  8. Oh you’ll for sure make the deadline! They only want the transcript from your last degree, an application, and resume. That’s it. Almost too easy, TBH.
  9. I was told, unequivocally, that they place students with no help from the student other than a preference list for sub specialties. This is a new program within the university that began last semester. Prior to that students were expected to find their own preceptors. NOW, with that being said, I am skeptical which is why I sent a follow up email after my phone consultation with the school. I am awaiting a response regarding exactly what the program means by placement, in writing, before I apply. I also sent other program specific questions about admission versus graduation rates, etc. Unfortunately, the only local NP Program (within 1 hour) also does not find clinical placement and relocating isn’t a possibility because of my husband’s active duty status.
  10. Hi all! I am having a time searching for APRN programs guaranteeing clinical placement. I am specifically looking for PMHNP programs, but I’m interested in hearing about all experiences as many schools offer the same placement options for multiple specialities. Obviously there are many other factors to consider when choosing a program, but for me this is a top consideration. The only PMHNP program that I’ve found that guarantees placement is Wilkes University. Does anyone have any schools to add to the list?
  11. Yes! I spoke on the phone with an admissions counselor yesterday. She was very nice and informative. She stated that they take your zipcode and work from in to out, up to 40 miles from your home. They do take your input into account (if you wanted a specific sub specialty like addictions) but they can’t guarantee that within 40 miles. She also stated that they are now allowing up to 50 hours of tele clinicals. This is a new program within the NP programs at Wilkes, so I’m not sure if any classes have actually been placed with preceptors yet. I asked specifically about out of state students (I live in FL) and she stated that it did not matter which US state you were in. Thank you so much! I haven’t been able to find many students in/graduated from the program yet. It’s really sounding pretty great.
  12. How long did it take for you to find out if you’re accepted? I am requesting my transcript today, but I also emailed the admissions counselor with some additional questions. I’m willing to work a little harder for clinical placement, but I just realized this semester was the first one they began accepting students for the ‘placement’ program.
  13. This is what I’m nervous about, too. I was told all they needed was a resume, transcripts from my last college, and 1 year RN experience. Their posted board passage rate is 95%, but I’m curious what their ‘started versus graduated’ rate is.
  14. I am currently applying for Wilkes 2021 Spring class for PMHNP. I was told clinical within 40 miles of my zip code, didactic front loaded, preceptors exams, and rare university visits. I really wish I could speak with a recent graduate of the program. I’ve seen many people post, but it’s mostly just ‘it was fine’ which makes me nervous LOL
  15. I was told that the program has been ‘redesigned’ and the school will now guarantee preceptors within 1 hour of your home. Does this not affect previous cohorts? That makes me nervous.
