Wilkes PMHNP 2020

Updated:   Published

Did anyone else get accepted into the Wilkes University PMHNP program? I got accepted into the post-MSN for Spring 2020. Got my acceptance letter today.

Specializes in Psych.

I got accepted for spring 2020.

For those who were accepted, in your welcome packets regarding clinicals, does it specify the specific breakdown of hours by population group (i.e. geriatrics vs peds, etc.) I'm inquiring for the post masters/pmhnp program. I've called michael the contact person but surprisingly, he seemed a bit clueless regarding this?

Thanks for your reply! So should I assume we are free to choose whatever population we want to complete out clinical hours? For example, could I do all geriatrics (aside from the required 80 hours for peds)?

Hmmmm......that I'm not sure, somehow I doubt they would let you do that. This degree/cert (depending on your route) is supposed to cover lifespan. Not having to do regular adults sounds like a stretch, the way they metabolize medicine, the way disorders present and the comorbidities are just different in a lot of ways, so they may feel you were not getting all the clinical benefits. But if they do and you already have a site then more power to ya, especially if that's the population you want to stay with!?

Yes!!!! Congratulations!?

Hello everyone!

Would you all be interested if I start a FB group? Or would you all prefer to just communicate through "allnurses".

I am also curious about the

Is there anyone who is paying out of pocket? I like how we are able to set up payment plans, which I am doing. I am however debating on if I am going to pay out of pocket for my Masters and use loans for my PhD or maybe I will just focus on step one, and use the loans ill be awarded. Does anyone know when Year 2020-2021 will be awarded? January 3rd is the due date to pay tuition.

Also, is there anyone who has tested and has their Psychiatric Mental Health RN-BC? I have just passed my CCRN! And I am now looking for study material to use toward the PMHRNBC to take before the program ends for my own personal benefit. If anyone have any resources and good study material please let me know!

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Hello everyone!!

I decided to defer for one semester and I’m curious to hear how it’s going for all of you?? Do you recommend the program? I am to pay for my course in the next couple of weeks and want to get a real perspective on how Wilkes’s psych nursing program is going for you.

Thank you so much!!

I am enjoying the program. I am currently in pathophysiology and research, a lot of reading and studying but is very doable!
