I got a letter today telling me I am being considered for inclusion to the 05/06 Who's Who List Among Executive and Profession Women in Nursing. Is this something that comes out to all women nurses? I just got my license- there is no reason for me to be getting this. Anyone know what this is about? -A

It seems to me that there was a thread about this a while back, and it turned out to be some bogus spam thing, or something like that. No offense.

These are organizations that get lists (don't know from where) of people in various professions and publish some obscure guide that they try to get people to subscribe to by putting their listing/info in it.

I actually got one of those letters in the last 10 days or so and threw it out. The letter made it sound like I was some kind of big shot and really needed to let the world know who I was by having my listing published in their stupid guide. Naturally, it cost $.

Yeah, it seemed bogus. "hey, you just graduated nursing school, and have been working for three weeks! You've made it now!!!" :chuckle -A

I am halfway through my ADN program, and have now received THREE of these letters (from three different but exceedingly similar organizations). How did they learn of my unique character and abilities? Because I signed up for a trial subscription to three nursing journals, LOL!!! :rotfl: Apparently, that made me quite qualified to be "honored" in this way.

Oh, and don't forget the publishing fee....that will come later

I guess I am not special enough! I didn't get one of those letters.:crying2:

Just send them a letter to cancel. You are just starting your career, and you will be getting hundreds of these thru the years.............they go in the circular file.........Simple as that. Any company that charges you a fee for a listing is just doing that to make money.

I have been getting them for years, they tell you that you are being considered and OF COURSE when you are chosen you will want a copy of the book. I hate to burst your bubble but... It may look good on your resume if your interviewer isn't savy to the scam.
