Who's taking A&P II this summer? (2010)

Published

I'm two days away from being done with A&P I, and A&P II is a 6 week class online this summer.

Who will be taking A&P II as well?

I've heard of it...but never in relation to taking 3 A&Ps.

I think it's weird because most colleges run on the semester system. My high school had quarters...10 weeks each.

That way two semesters and three quarters equal about the same amount of time instead of crushing A&P1 and A&P2 into twenty-some weeks. Painful. Basically A&P here is divided up differently than semester-based. I'm at a community college, so...but as far as I know some colleges (four-years) do quarters as well. Maybe it's just my state?

No...I know of some colleges that are on the quarter system. I just think it's weird outside of middle/high school since most colleges are on the semester system.

My middle school did "trimesters" but my high school did semesters...it's funny because I've never seen any high school use the quarter system - definitely not where I live. The only place I've seen it is colleges. xD

I just got my syllabus tonight...sent my prof an email asking for it.

I'm a bit scared...but I'm ordering my book soon, and at my job, I have plenty of spare time in the day so I can sneak in some studying while at work as long as I make flashcards that I can keep in my pockets.

My professor also seems extremely nice and helpful! I've emailed her a couple of times already asking about the course and she has responded quickly and thoroughly each time, inviting more questions if I have them.

Once I get my book, I'll get started on the reading because between working 2 jobs as I suspect I'll be doing when the class starts, babysitting my younger siblings and trying to have a social life and maybe even sleep...there won't be much time.

My professor will probably put up a syllabus the week before classes start...that's usually what he does. Our class starts in late June - like the 28th, I think. I get one week of break, yay...

I was curious about the syllabus, and I figured there was no harm in asking. I didn't expect that she would have the syllabus as my class doesn't start til July 6, but she did, and she sent it to me, so it worked out great.

It's probably different since I'm still in class with the professor. :p I gotta focus on making it through the rest of the crap. I HATE the nervous system.

On the ther hand, Cardiovascular = :redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe Can't wait!

We had our first lab last night. I would like some input. The microscopes were set up with slides and we were supposed to identify a neutrophil, a monocyte, a lymphocyte, an erythrocyte. I got the erythrocyte and neutrophil. there was one irregular shaped cell that looked like it was mostly nucleus. Dont know if it was a monocyte or lymphocyte. That was pretty much all I could gt out of it. They dont tell us what we are looking at , we get to see it 1 time, and then test on it in like 3 weeks. The cells do not look picutre perfect like in the book.

Im so frustrated, there was a slide show that was the same way. The stain color was all very bland, and it couldnt help us at all, also the lobes did not count the way they are described in the book. The basophil is supposed to be bilobe and it looked trilobed. I cant figure out the answers in Lab, it is 2 hours long to do about 8 activities. I dont have a photographic memory, how can I remember all this in 3 weeks after seeing it 1 time?

My suggestion is--go online. They have tons of university websites where they show great slides of all of these. Prior to labs, I would go online and research whatever we needed to look at (i.e. bone cell slides). You can find tons of them, and you don't need to worry what you missed in class. Also, some of them have explanations of all the slides, etc. and you can learn/review a lot. Good luck. (also, I found Cliff's Notes on these topics very helpful. They provide a lot of pictures, not slides, though).

Thanks, I will try to look some of those up this weekend.

We had the first exam tonight. It was all short answer, fill in the blank, essay style. I ws surprised there was not 1 multiple choice question on the exam. I think I did okay, I will find out next week. There was one really sweet girl in our class that had a rough time and broke down in tears because she could not finish the exam. She had a lot of the exam left blank because she ran out of time. I understand the need for essay questions, but still think it is too much to not tell us what is on the test for this format. I was about in tears before the test for stress of studying everything in detail.

Just took my finals today, I got an A in A&P 1:yeah:

A&P 2 starts next week. It is with the same professor so I am not worried at all.

I start A & P II in two weeks. I hope I get a decent professor. Although my A & P I prof was pretty much the worst teacher you could have, I still managed to pull an A.
