I know I"m not the only one.

I have one son, who will be two in June, I start in August. I can't believe he'll be almost four when I'm done!

I have two kids (DD is 9 and DS is 3 1/2). I know things will be hard once I start nursing school in the fall full-time, but I know I can do it! I already told DH that I don't want to hear about the house being a mess. School is more important. I was so excited when I found out I got into my school. DD wasn't happy though. She asked me "why do you have to go to school?" I know it is hard on the kids....especially since I was going to school at night. Now that I am going during the day, I hope I have more time to spend with them. I think the hardest part is feeling guilty about not having lots of time to spend with them.

I got pregnant in my 3rd semester of six. I took off the next semester b/c I was a high risk pregnancy and then went back when he was 2 months old. He is now 19 months old and I am all done with school, graduate next month (had to wait for the other classes to finish). It was ok, I didn't study as much bc I felt guilty but I did get things done that needed to be done and my grades haven't gotten worse than they were before, they stayed about the same and I did pretty well. It's been fun! Hehehehehe!

It can be tough at times b/c you want to be there for the kids, or when they get sick or you have sitter problems but planning is key! And be prepared to let housework go when you can!

Specializes in Progressive Care, Critical Care.

I'm in school with a 7 year old (who tries to help) and an 18 month old. It is very distracting to study sometimes, to say the least! Even more distracting is in January I found out I was pregnant. I'm due in September and suprisingly enough it isn't that bad, I'm just tired and forgetful more often probably. :)

Specializes in orthopaedics.

my boys are now 5 and 7. i started school when my oldest was 3. many people from my class have children and we all made it through fine. we even had a single mom with seven kids!!!

I start in August. My daughter turns 5 tomorrow. We're starting school a week apart. :)

I'm nervous, but I know everything will work out. Daddy will stay home with Samantha when she's sick or has a day off school. He'll kind of be single parenting for a couple years, but it'll be good for both of them.

I am doing nursing school with 7 kids ages 7-20. Made it through pre-reqs but am a little nervous about actually being in the nursing program for real. It looks like my 20 year old may be getting married right in the middle of all of this. Oh my. At least my family is supportive.

I'm a single mom with three boys - ages 7, 8, 9. Their dad lives over an hour away and is no help. I have no family around or any support. I'm finishing up my pre reqs with a 4.0 going full time, and I'm proud of myself for being able to do it with as busy as I am with the boys and their activities. I start the program in September and I plan on working just as hard as I have been. I will work out the kinks as they come - that's what I've done so far.

I know I"m not the only one.

I have 4 boys. Ages 13, 10, 10 (twins) and a 4 year old. I started pre-req's in fall of 2004 and will graduate this fall of 2007. :w00t:

I'm doing nursing school with FOUR kids. When I started prereq's my youngest had just turned 2, my oldest was 10. They are now 6, 9, 13, 15 in 3 different schools-I graduate in less than 3 months. It's not easy by any means, but it is doable. I hope you have alot of family/friends to help you out. Good luck and have fun

You sound like me...also 4 kids (boys) and I graduate in December. Way to go chica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :balloons:

I have a 3 & 5 year old. :)

I'm a stay at home Mom, but they keep me busy ALL the time.

I'm starting nursing school as a single parent by circumstance (wife is deployed to Iraq). I have a 2 year old daughter, parents are out of the state, we're actually new to the state of VA, and the local daycare centers that provide quality care are slim pickings. The one that we were lucky enough to find stays open until 6p

I start this August and am terrified of the potential for evening

(11a-7p) clinicals. Have any of you missed clinical time as result of having children? If so, was it on a regular basis and how was it handled/viewed by the staff?

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. The anxiety over this is really eating me up.

Well usually, clinicals get out early, but I wouldn't count on it. If the daycare closes at six and clinical is till seven, how are you planning to handle it?

I don't think they will routinely let you out early.
