I know I"m not the only one.

I have one son, who will be two in June, I start in August. I can't believe he'll be almost four when I'm done!

good luck is all i have to say. having kids and nursing school is pretty much hell here on earth. if the total exhaustion doesn't get you then the guilt will. but it is worth it!!! my daughter is 25 now, i'm not sure when that happened, but when i was in nursing school i found myself pregnant and unmarried. 25 years ago no one really cared about anything but you getting all the work done. i went to a two year diploma school and during my last trimester my instructor was in her mid-thirties and spending boat loads of money trying to get pregnant. and there i sat, pregnant and unmarried. i got her wrath, she was a little ticked off at god, i think, so like any normal nursing instructor, take it out on the student, especially the one that offends you the most. but the weirdest thing was, once i had my daughter, this particular instructor loved me. i could do no wrong!!! she had me bring the baby in and bought her all kinds of little outfits. i'm not sure if this post belongs here or in the thread about anyone hating nursing school? i chose to stay; they told me be back in two weeks or don't come back at all. some how i was able to piecemeal my life together and finished school. my daughter never had to find out what would happen if mom couldn't take care of her. i was always able to provide a home, food, clothes and a decent education. the guilt was the hardest part because she was so young but overall it was worth it. good luck!!!

Per diem positions are not usually open to new grads. You need some kind of orientation at first and per diem nurses are expected to already be able to take a full load of patients because they are filling in for someone else.

I don't think I've ever seen a part time new grad position.

Oh ok thanks.

I went to nursing school with four kids under the age of 11.Its doable but Ive also been blessed with a wonderful husband who was much help with the kids.

I'm a happily married mom of an 8-yr. old son. I also work full-time 2nd shift at a local hospital doing doing administrative work in labor and delivery. It can be busy and overwhelming at times, but being organized and putting things in the proper priority make all the difference.

I always make time for hubby and son, even if I have to squeeze it into what little free time I may have. Studying happens every day, so I can take time here and there to stay in touch with the fam. :)

I start in August as well. I have four children ages 11, 7, 4 and 1. If I can get through school with my family, I'll be amazed:)

I have a 5 year old and a 1 year old. I have a friend who is doing it with three kids and her school is an hour away!

Specializes in ltc and med surg.

I have a 7 and 9 year old, with an unplanned yet lovingly awaited one due in June. I have spent the last 3 years going to school full time. One year in the LPN program that I just finished and the rest of that time for prereqs for RN. It has not been easy on the kids, I know that they will understand later in life if they don't understand right now. I am struggling with the idea of taking the transition to RN program next winter with a 6 month old baby. It is stressful on the family but maybe there are benefits to getting it out of the way when they are too young to remember. I share your concerns it is such a dilemma. I know I should not feel guilty about seeking a career but that doesn't keep me from feeling that way.

That's why I will work 3rd ****. When I get home if the kids haven't left yet I will help get them off and sleep until they get home. I grew up with a mom who was a nurse and this was life. When we had off or a half day she could still sleep because our ages and we were threatened by dad that we were not to wake her up...which we did do anyway.

I hope to pull of a 3 12 though...7p-7a.
