Who's applying to Baylor or Parkland internships for June?

Who's applying to internships in the Dallas area for June? Does anyone know when we can start applying?

ysproby,

when did you interview? do you have any interview tips? thanks in advance.

I interviewed Thurs March 4 and they called me today! They asked a lot of behavioral questions so be prepared and be natural. Mostly they wanted to know how you handle stressful situations, how you have taught people in previous situations and how you had to adjust if they were not getting what you were trying to teach, times you had to deal with angry patiens, etc. I think I had an advantage because I worked in the Dental field for over 10 years so I had plenty of patient stories to tell. Good luck and I hope this helps. By the way I am going to be at the Baylor Medical Center in Irving so their interview process may be slightly different.

Now every hospital asks behavioral interview questions. The only job experience I have had was working in the jewelry business for 4 years. Surprisingly enough, I was able to use both my jewelry and clinical experience and was offered a position the next day! Along with what ysproby said, using behavioral questions is a good way to see how well you think on your feet. My advice is just go with what pops into your head first! It does not necessarily have to be clinically related. Good luck Curly, and congrats Ysproby!

panzyo3,

how hard was it to get into parkland's gn internship? i applied for the sicu internship about 2 weeks ago or so but have not heard anything back. i'm thinking about calling their hr and follow up on my application. do you have any suggestions? thank you!

Curly,

I went to the Career Fair they had. I signed up at all the areas, and was able to actually sign up for an interview in the NNICU (none of the other areas did this). I think it was in the beginning of October. I had an interview at the end of October, and they said they would let me know within the week, and they called me the next day. I know of 2 others in my class who had interviews who did not go to the career fair, they just applied online and it took awhile before they called them for an interview. One girl they interviewed said they would call her within 2 weeks and never did. Another girl applied for L&D, and at her interview (it was in Nov) they said they didn't have any more positions opened, but interviewed her anyway. Then a few days before Christmas they called her and saying they had a position open if she wanted it (L&D)! I'm not sure how the SICU works though. For the NNICU, they chose people as they interviewed, so if they liked you then you didn't have to wait until everyone interviewed. I think it takes a little longer before they start interviews, so you might could call them and see when they will start. But, like I said earlier, I had no hospital experience besides clinicals and they still hired me. Good luck- hope this helps!

Very excited to announce that I got a position at Baylor Dallas. Antepartum/L&D.

HESI means nothing to these recruiters... you have to look good with you app/ cover letter/ resume and then really get their attention at the interview.

Good luck with yalls interviews and stuff. Dont forget about Methodist... I am interning in their ED and really like it so far!

Male_RN_2_Be...

I interview with Meth next week for the ER Internship for June. Can you give me some info on how your internship has been so far and what you love about it? Also...you don't have to give me super specifics, but can you give me an idea of how the interview was? Was it pretty laid back or super serious, etc? Did they ask a bunch of "tell me about a time when" stuff or get into clinical questions?

Thanks for the help man, I am hoping to come on board and work with you this summer!

Panzyo3...Congrats on the job! I am at TWU and finish in May...was part of the Dec grad class before going part time. And I know NICU at Parkland had like 16 spots open this last semester and 12 or so were TWU grads. Are you one of them? :)

I know Cari and all those peeps. I hear it is an amazing unit!

Dallas,

Nope, I didn't go to TWU, I went to TCU. I have met all the TWU girls, and they are all real nice. Good luck in your job hunting, (unless you already got a job, then congrats!)

Specializes in Emergency.

Dallas,

I sent you an email

Have any of you guys received calls back from Parkland? It seems like everyone is interested in ICU. Anyone have EMT or teck experience in an ICU?

I accepted a GN residency position in the Parkland SICU a few weeks ago! They also called me for an ER interview 2 weeks ago, but i respectfully declined. Has anyone else accepted a position? I am so excited, this is my dream job!
