Also, check the online Ohio license board, it is updated as soon as they put your info in. I got a letter in the mail about 2 weeks after it posted online.

I think I got mine within 2 weeks after I sent in all my paperwork. It was much easier than I expected. I also got my permanent license within 2 weeks of sending in my fingerprints. This was mid March, and my official license posted on April 21st, as in a month ago. I'm not sure if it will be slowed down now since all the nursing students should be graduating soon.

Dallas, Nope, I didn't go to TWU, I went to TCU. I have met all the TWU girls, and they are all real nice. Good luck in your job hunting, (unless you already got a job, then congrats!)

Curly, I went to the Career Fair they had. I signed up at all the areas, and was able to actually sign up for an interview in the NNICU (none of the other areas did this). I think it was in the beginning of October. I had an interview at the end of October, and they said they would let me know within the week, and they called me the next day. I know of 2 others in my class who had interviews who did not go to the career fair, they just applied online and it took awhile before they called them for an interview. One girl they interviewed said they would call her within 2 weeks and never did. Another girl applied for L&D, and at her interview (it was in Nov) they said they didn't have any more positions opened, but interviewed her anyway. Then a few days before Christmas they called her and saying they had a position open if she wanted it (L&D)! I'm not sure how the SICU works though. For the NNICU, they chose people as they interviewed, so if they liked you then you didn't have to wait until everyone interviewed. I think it takes a little longer before they start interviews, so you might could call them and see when they will start. But, like I said earlier, I had no hospital experience besides clinicals and they still hired me. Good luck- hope this helps!

Now every hospital asks behavioral interview questions. The only job experience I have had was working in the jewelry business for 4 years. Surprisingly enough, I was able to use both my jewelry and clinical experience and was offered a position the next day! Along with what ysproby said, using behavioral questions is a good way to see how well you think on your feet. My advice is just go with what pops into your head first! RN2B10, No, they did not ask what my GPA was, I'm sure they looked at it though. I think they might have asked what you current GPA was on the application (mine was a 3.16 at midsemester). But I don't think they'll say " Oh, well this person only has a 3.0 we aren't going to accept them." You can always try calling the nurse recruiter. Yes, I am in the NNICU residency and love it! Dallas is a nice place to live, and if you work at Parkland you can go anywhere you want with all the experience you get. I'm not sure about the hiring situation in Houston though. Good luck!

Chica, Have you looked at the open positions at Parkland Hospital in Dallas? There are open positions in almost any area. I have been working here for about 3 months now as a new RN, and I love it! RN2B10, Don't worry about your GPA. Last semester I heard that Parkland wouldn't hire anyone with less than a 3.5 GPA (This of course was not true at all!) I graduated with a 3.26, and was hired the day after my interview! My advice is to apply everywhere. I know Baylor and THR don't have many new GN positions (like 2 or 3 per specialty), and unless you are working as a tech there or are doing clinicals there, it is really hard to get an interview. Thanksgiving break is the same, I think the only thing different is you take summer classes whereas in the traditional track you get summers off.

I just started the Parkland Internship this January. They post their internships later than the other hospitals. And no, I would not send them your Hesi scores, because not all students take it (some take the ATI or other tests). Good luck guys!

Joonbug, I have been in the NNICU residency at Parkland for about a month and a half now and I absolutely love it!!! I have already seen things I would probably never (or rarely) see at a private hospital. The nurses are super nice and you get great experience. I would definitely suggest working for Parkland. I am a current TCU nursing student (graduating in December!!!). It was pretty easy to get into TCU (I've heard its kinda hard to get into UTA since it costs alot less!). I would apply to every school you can. I do like it here at TCU, but they do make you take a bunch of BS classes, and its really expensive (~13,000 per semester). The nursing staff are really good here though. Just apply and see where you get in, then go from there. Good luck!!!
