Who's applying to internships in the Dallas area for June? Does anyone know when we can start applying?

ashley,

do you have any tech or emt experience?

Good for you Ashley! I'm so jealous. I have had Parkland as my top choice ever since Level 3. I feel like I applied too late (mid March). Did you get to speak with anyone about the facility? I was told that all I could do was apply online and wait for a call back. No shadowing, no contacts.....kinda bummed me out. I guess I can pretty much bet on not getting hired then huh?

Bummer

Don't feel bad SuperDust. Parkland's ice/er internships was my top choice since I even started to think about applying for jobs. I applied super early like Jan or Feb, emailed them obsessively and had all my ducks in a row. They even said I did a great job at the interview but I was not accepted so I just applied to one of their residencies haven't heard back though. Good Luck Tho

Curly gurlie- i only had 6 months of nurse extern experience in med/surg...

i checked the website every day religiously and applied in February, i didnt talk with anyone beforehand...honestly i think i was just lucky and it was good timing...

good luck to everyone!

Congrats Ashley! You are going to love Parkland!

has anybody heard from Parkland about the NICU residency? they posted the application only a month ago and i applied the minute it was up but haven't heard anything yet. parkland is the only hospital around here with a nicu residency for june and i'm so afraid they are going to cancel it! every time i call the recruitment office they just tell me the same thing: "we're still looking over applications". i've been told children's and baylor decided not to do a NICU internship this time around for june... does anybody know if parkland will actually hire for their NICU residency? it's almost may and i'm getting antsy

honestly i've gotten so frustrated with parkland and their shoddy hiring process that i've pretty much given up hope on them. i applied for the NICU one along with several others, and haven't heard back anything. i think they feel that as a super mega hospital with hundreds of applicants per position, that they have the upper hand and don't really have to be courteous or give you the time of day unless they decide you're one of the chosen few at the end. quite sad...their HR is anything but helpful, and yes, they tell me the same thing every time i stalk them... :( hope you find something!!

I, too, applied for Baylor and Parkland's NICU residency programs. I got the email from Baylor saying they were canceling the internship due to staffing needs. I tried calling Parkland yesterday and they said they were still reviewing applications and that the NICU residency program is very competitive. The position is still posted though, so I'm not sure what their deal is. I guess we will just wait and see. Hopefully one of us will hear something soon!
