Whoever invented scrubs? Whoever made the decision that nurses are to wear comic characters, sweet sayings, pastels and matching pens?
I tried a 'nurse fannie pack'. It inserted itself into my body wence I once had a waist. I was marked for a week, and finally found that sharpie above my reappearing belly button.
I want to wear EMT pants. Plenty of pockets for plenty of junk. Eight pairs of black should do it. Black goes with everything and makes you look thin.
A pocket for tape, stethoscope, and whatever. Even a pocket for chocolate chip cookies from the cafeteria for when you take a break on the pot.
Should I keep the shoes white or wear black boots, too?

Sounds to me more like she'd rather wear EMT pants than scrubs...
Not a bad idea for all the crap we carry around!

There's no rule that says you have to wear cutesy prints. All my scrubs are navy blue or black. And I buy cargo style scrub pants with plenty of pockets. Who wears a fanny pack?

Scrubs were originally used in surgery, if I'm not mistaken...
Read below for a short history of medical scrubs

Wikepedia, of course, has a good article on scrubs...

I wear cargo style pants too. And for my scrub top....my right pocket is work-related items, the left is my personal items (lipstick, etc). I always look like Im wearing a tool belt though because I have a TON of items in that right pocket! There is a nurse in ICU who wears a fanny pack and no one likes her (she is mean and gruff). Everyone calles her the fanny-pack girl.

I think scrubs are some of the most comfortable clothes I have ever worn, but I do agree that the cutesy prints are rediculous! I refuse to wear puppies, neon colors or any number of other children's patterns. These do have a place in pediatric care, but please, when caring for adults, dress like the professionals we really are!! Cargo pants are the greatest for stashing all those supplies and save us from multiple trips when in a pinch. They don't have to be lime green or fuschia, however! Black, white, navy--you know, the same colors you would find any professional suit or traditional nursing attire. And then there's those plastic shoes, but that's another thread entirely!

You don't have to buy the cartoon ones you know. I've got some good cargo pant ones. Landau is good for lots of pockets. Funny though, you end up going through all ten of them looking for that one alcohol wipe you know you put somewhere.........:)

I love scrubs and would wear them every day if I could. I miss picking mine out. We wear ceil blue ones with the company logo. I miss my patients commenting on them, often a nice scrub top will brighten a patients day.

Yup I love em! Can't imagine anything more comfortable than scrubs unless they are worn tight or tucked in, lol.

Ok, don't wear scrub pants, wear EMT pants. Personal choice. Enjoy your EMT pants. I enjoy scrub pants. There is room for all of us in nursing. I used to enjoy wearing a variety of patterns, some of them cutesy, but I do work with babies. Now I prefer solid colors. I like having the option. I don't want to lose the choice.
I hate fanny packs too, on myself, if someone else wants to wear them, more power to them!
