Whoever invented scrubs, standup!

Nurses General Nursing

Whoever invented scrubs? Whoever made the decision that nurses are to wear comic characters, sweet sayings, pastels and matching pens?

I tried a 'nurse fannie pack'. It inserted itself into my body wence I once had a waist. I was marked for a week, and finally found that sharpie above my reappearing belly button.

I want to wear EMT pants. Plenty of pockets for plenty of junk. Eight pairs of black should do it. Black goes with everything and makes you look thin.

A pocket for tape, stethoscope, and whatever. Even a pocket for chocolate chip cookies from the cafeteria for when you take a break on the pot.

Should I keep the shoes white or wear black boots, too?

You don't have to buy the cartoon ones you know. I've got some good cargo pant ones. Landau is good for lots of pockets. Funny though, you end up going through all ten of them looking for that one alcohol wipe you know you put somewhere.........:)

Alcohol wipe? L pocket on the scrub top. :D

Scrubs are comfortable, and where I work (hospice) only solid colors are allowed.

There's no rule that says you have to wear cutesy prints. All my scrubs are navy blue or black. And I buy cargo style scrub pants with plenty of pockets. Who wears a fanny pack?

Same here except they are ceil blue or royal with a white lab coat. I skip the teddy bears and the hot orange stuff and the ever more daring bust gathered skin tight ones too. Notice you don't see the physicians wearing that stuff and there's a point there: Like them, I worked hard for my license and want my patients (and others) to KNOW I'm the Registered Nurse and not the cleaning person.

Btw, I saw one company advertising you could wear their scrubs out. Excuse me, ***, er, NO.

Change, for Godsakes. We don't need to go out dinner and all over town in MRSA covered scrubs and neither does the community need us to. I've been waiting for them to make the anti-microbial scrubs in tall lengths actually because i'd just as soon not take it home to the family washer either.
