Whoever invented scrubs, standup!

Whoever invented scrubs? Whoever made the decision that nurses are to wear comic characters, sweet sayings, pastels and matching pens?

I tried a 'nurse fannie pack'. It inserted itself into my body wence I once had a waist. I was marked for a week, and finally found that sharpie above my reappearing belly button.

I want to wear EMT pants. Plenty of pockets for plenty of junk. Eight pairs of black should do it. Black goes with everything and makes you look thin.

A pocket for tape, stethoscope, and whatever. Even a pocket for chocolate chip cookies from the cafeteria for when you take a break on the pot.

Should I keep the shoes white or wear black boots, too?

I wear these scrub pants and love them. Lots of pockets and light weight (unlike EMT pants).

I also wear a hip pack:

I LOVE my scrubs!!!

I don't do cutsy prints or sayings. I wear solid colors that match or a colored top and black pants.

The kind with the stretchy sides and waistband. The stretchy sides give a nice shape to the top so it doesn't just look like a bag.

COMFY!

I hate scrubs at the moment. I can't find any that fit. I am 5'2 100lbs. I have some cherokee petite flares in an xxs that i still have to role twice at the waistband. I am small but I am not THAT small. I have ordered many brands online using my measurements and a size chart for each brand. Its like the size charts aren't correct.

I don't mind scrubs at all (I just have a hard time finding them LONG enough, where the waist still fits!).

I don't do pastels, neons, or even patterns really any more (I have a few older patterened tops, but they're plaid, neutral colors, etc). I wear either navy blue or black pants most often, and I have navy or black *crocs* to match (like the more streamlined look). Solid, darker colored tops, and if I wear long sleeves under it, I try to match the color. You don't have to look bright or juvenile just because they make so many ridiculously eye-catching patterns! I have a set of dark brown scrubs that I love as well. I refuse to look like a flower garden though!

I find I have plenty of room with tops that have the two waist pockets, rather than one chest pocket (who thought of THAT impractical option!?). I mean, I can't ever carry less than 10 pens. :chuckle

You're about my size (I'm 5'0, 95lbs). I really like the Dickies extra small. They fit nicely on the waist, and my pants aren't dragging on the floor. Also, I wore the Landau when I was in nursing school, extra small. I liked them then, but for some reason a pair of Landau's I bought recently seems big. Is there somewhere local you could go and try stuff on instead of ordering on-line and finding out later it's too big.

BTW: I've heard Cherokee's tend to run quite big. The only people I know that like them are bigger built girls.

There are quite a few places but it seems like one place carries these brands and one place carries those brands and then one store may not carry petites or the xxs so I would end up running all over town. I have a pair of dickies coming in, the boot cut hip flip, they were recommended. I also heard landau runs small as well. I know they are scrubs and they aren't supposed to look gorgeous but I hate having "diaper butt".

I love scrubs. So comfy, easy to get into in a hurry if I'm running late for work, and impossibly easy to wash and clean.

I bypass the cutesy scrubs though. I think they look ridiculous. We'll occasionally get peds patients, some who really like a certain character. Then the nurses will sometimes wear cutesy stuff. Otherwise- no. No one on my floor really does the cutesy stuff.

I confess.....I do have Spongebob scrubs that I wear once in a while. I work with a largely geriatric population and get many comments on how much they like my scrubs. They say it's a cheerful distraction from the "blah" colors of the hospital.

:nurse:

I personally hate wearing scrubs. I think they're very unflattering aka they're UGLY. It doesn't matter what print or design. I think scrubs are ugly and I hate wearing them. I know there will be people who want to attack my views and state 'well, your appearance shouldn't matter.' Um, yeah, it does. I happen to care about my appearance a lot and I just hate scrubs. I feel like I'm wearing some baggy ugly crap. I always take off my scrubs the second I get home. I hate them that much.

I will admit they are comfortable though--just not visually appealing.

Buy good ones made of quality fabric and have them tailored to fit properly. http://www.medelita.com/medical-scrubs-zandra.html
