I'm just wondering because I'm taking online courses and I really HAVE to read the whole book (and we all know that darned A&P book is 1100 pages)! I don't have anyone telling me what will or won't be on the tests, so I have to assume it's all is fair game and it's just sooooo time consuming! Is it different for you guys in the traditional classroom? I'm contemplating micro for the fall and wondering which way is the path of least resistance....online or classroom?

When I am done AP+II I will have basically read the entire Marieb book.
In A+P I I read the entire chapters we were concentrating on over and over and over( ad naseum lol). Same for A+P II. We used powerpoints as well but basically you had to read the chapters in order to study for the exams. We were never told what would/wouldn't be on the text.

I read all my books for my ADN. I got my BS and MS as a combined program and read 98 books over 2 years. Yes I read them all.

I was afraid of that. Oh well, I can handle it. I just wondered if I was doing it the hard way.

Talk about reading the book. I just took Med Term (I am in a LPN program) and passed the class with flying colors. I am still reading the book. LOL!!! Now I am reading my Pharm book and I won't have that class till at least Sept. LOL!! This quarter I am taking A&P, ENG, and PSY and I have yet to see any of those books, yet but I know between the 3 I will be reading for cover to cover on all books.
I am taking my classes online too. It is kind of hard to know what's on the test but luckily my teachers post notes on each chapter and I am pretty much able to guage what will be on the test based on those notes.
Last qtr I had Math and I didn't have the $$ to buy the book so I really used the teachers notes. Guess what I got a B in the class. :chuckle

When I finish my last AP, (this is my last quarter!!), I will have read the whole book!
I am currently enrolled in my nursing program at a diff school (they were nice enough to let me start while I was finishing up my prereqs) and while it is very important to read it all and understand it, you cannot remember every detail. I would say if you know each system and generally how it works you will be fine...im taking patho, pharm and phys assessment and now that im taking those classes AP and micro are really coming in handy! AP and micro are starting to make much more sense now too...taking all these classes together has really helped me pull things together...it will happen for you too! Good Luck:)
here is a great site for AP...try the "essential study partner"

Another nerd here that feels guilty if he doesn't read everything.

Oh heck NO! At the end of nursing school, I didn't even buy the textbooks anymore. I graduated with honors anyway from a top ranked BSN program. :)

Yes and no. The gen ed course books I just skimmed through and read the most important chapters. The science absolutely, or elso you cannot pass. I read those babies sometimes even twice just to make sure :chuckle

Might as well get used to it. In nursing school you have to read the everything because they often test you on reading that's not covered in class.

My nursing texts, i.e. Med-Surg Nursing, I do read the whole thing. As Lizz says there are things that appear on the tests that are in the text. It's a good practice to get into.
