I'm asking this question because Saunders (5000 questions book) is the only method I use to study the NCLEX. Kaplan is so expensive and I dont know if it's really necessary to enroll in the course or use the qbank.

Hi,
That is all I used for my LPN. For my RN I added the learningnetwork questions during the last week, mostly out of boredom with Saunders. Good luck!

me and most of my friends are only using Saunders. i took a 3 day review course that covers all the most important info in the book. we were also told to do 1000 test questions from the book/CD prior to sitting for NCLEX. i test on july 8th! :imbar

Sorry, but do not think that 1000 questions is near enough. It should be more like 4500 questions.
And yes, one can easily pass using the one book, provided that it is truly used.

well technically it would end up being around 45000-5000 questions. the saunders book (4th ed, blue) has practice questions at the end of each "section" and then in the back is a bunch of practice questions as well.

Hi I just passed the NCLEX-RN I didn't take any courses because I couldn't afford it. I only used the Saunders Comprehensive book and also the Saunders Q&A book. I highly recommend the comprehensive book, it may seem as too much information but if you know how to sort it out you will be ok.
Good Luck.
4500 questions seems a little excessive to me but I guess doing more can't hurt! All of my friends took the 3 day prep course and did roughly 1000 practice questions. They have all passed, so far.
The 3day prep course I took is quite thorough. (The instructor uses kinesthetic learning which is so fantastic! We went through the entire Saunders book, highlight certain parts of the book and put stars next to everything we're supposed to memorize. The instructor told us to read through what we've highlited 2 times, then memorize everything she told us to put a star next to (specific lab values, specific drugs, and specific diseases), then we're supposed to do 1000 test questions from the back of the book and the CD. She has a 98% pass rate so here's hoping I'm part of the 98%! One thing she really stressed was learning a lot about corticosteriods, Addison's, Cushing's and Hypo/hyperthyroidism which we really didn't study in RN school (except for DM and insulin), and everyone I've talked to says they are glad she covered that material!

Okan, roughly how many practice questions did you do? Thanks!

To those that used/are using the Saunders Comprehensive book... did/are you doing the questions at the end of each chapter and/or just the disk questions and testing? I have this book and also the Hurst review book... I just am not sure where I should focus more of time at the moment. I test July 9th & have entered the panic phase!

This is for the RN right? Well I used Saunders and their cd for the NCLEX RN, and I passed. It works. So as long as you keep up with questions (I did like 100-200 a day for a month) that should be more than enough questions for you to do really well on the exam.

I did about 1500 questions or so, including the questions at the end of the chapters and the comprehensive test at the end of the book. One thing I can tell you most of the questions on the actual test were on priority and choose all that apply.
