I can't think of any job I'd rather be doing than taking care of people and learning from them at the same time. Does anyone else feel this way?
I love being a nurse, it's all I've ever really wanted to do. I am currently on a surgical ward taking care of every possible surgical patient you could think of. I am, however, going intermittent (PRN) at this position and am about to start on a cardio-thoracic intermediate care ward and I am so excited!! Cardio-thoracic is my favorite service.
I know that sometimes there is a great deal of talk about long term care-but I love working w/ the elderly. Just listening to their stories & making them smile, there is nothing greater. You learn so much from those that have already lived the life, that have come before. Don't get me wrong, the work is very demanding (but that can be anywhere) & working w/ some people can be a pain (that can be anywhere too) but I find it very satisfying.

I am a wound/ostomy specialist and I do love what I do. I consult on patients and try to help them. I am on my own, doing my thing at work. I LOVE not getting too tied up in the Mickey mouse happy crap that goes on on the nursing units.
