As a former wardrobe and fashion consultant, I can't help but notice anytime I see an otherwise professionally dressed nurse, whose undergarments are noticeable because they too, are white, or even worse, colored or a print. Wearing nude undergarments, makes them far less visible especially when wearing white slacks. I don't know about you, but when I'm at work, I want to be seen as the professional that I am. If my undergarments are noticeable, it detracts from the message that I want to send, and that gets in the way of my interactions with my patients as well as with other health care professionals. It's not a huge thing, but why look this way when it's so easy to fix it.

Isn't that the truth. I own only two pair of white scrub bottoms and very rarely wear them. Funny how the white pants also seem to be made of the thinnest material known to mankind.
Then you see some of the younger women who have the unabashed audacity to wear thong underwear with their white scrub bottoms. Makes me cringe...

I've learned whenever you wear white bottoms you should wear black underwear. Wear solid black underwear, you shouldn't notice your underwear. Try it and see! Hope that helped.

Underwear is for support, not to be advertised.
For me, when I wear nude underwear with white pants I think it's more obvious than if I was wearing white underwear. Then again, I avoid white pants at all costs. Probably the next time I wear them will be in clinicals.

I always wore a jacket long enough to cover my bum in clincals. And I never wore white pants again afterward. Yuck.

I got and agree with the point about patterned underwear under white pants. It looks absolutely stupid for nurse to walk down the hall with huge gaudy flowers visible on her granny pants. Like a man walking around with his zipper undone, but not as easy to fix. But wearing white underwear- heck if my biggest problem is that my underwear is too white I'm having a GOOD day. The black drawers- they look like gruesome reverse tanlines on my fat, lily white ass, but they are better than the faint outlines of Scooby Doo. I'd be happy to find just some solid color, and full coverage, on my coworkers.

Unfortunately, the only pairs of nude colored underpants I can find are those that are designed for under fancy dresses, and are sooooo expensive! Anyone know where I can get some plain ole nude colored undies in a BIG pack? I start clinicals (in all white) in August.

The recurrent woe of underwear.
What I do and it seems to work is get cotton beige Hanes or fruit of the loom high thigh cut. That seems to cover pretty well and after all we aren't trying to be a fashionista.

Funny you say that, it wasnt until the last semester in nursing school that someone let me in on the nude panty secret, It never dawned on me to try that I just assumed that white was the best under white, now if someone could just show me how to put on mascara without blinking I will be all set :)

I wear white uniforms at work and wear white underwear. I don't wear skin tight uniforms though like the younger people.
