Hey guys...which location is better to live and work in the Lake Havasu, AZ area or Destin/Florida Panhandle?

No jobs in Florida. So many new Grads so few jobs, especially if you have only a Assoc. Degree. Anyway working in Florida as a RN is equal to working as a hooker. Very little respect.:twocents:

greenfiremagick, you and I are the only ones ere with a sense of humor. ;)

I know, right??? :clown:

Specializes in Home health was tops, 2nd was L&D.

Have lived in Florida....have friend in Arizona..me I choose Tennessee. Sorry actually hate FL, not sure I would even visit for vacation. Arizona has so many different areas and climates. You must visit before you decide. I'd pick Wyoming if not for colder winter. Of course you know no one can tell you what is best for you. I knw you jsut wanted general opinions. I'd make a pros and cons list and then pick the winner. Good luck.:D

Hey, I do believe that when hookers wield a whip, they get respect!

I have never worked either but I would choose Arizona over Florida.

On another note, I am sorry that some of the responses to your original post were less than helpful. That is exactly why I do not post here much.

If you go to sperlings best places to live you can compare the cities in all aspects. Good luck with your decision!

Lol, it goes w/o saying. BLuegrass, you know you had me at "it starts with an A...."

I live in FL. I'd go to Arizona if I was you. The cost of living and the pay here isn't compatible. Almost every nurse here has a 2nd job b/c they have to....but at least we have a beach...but the beach doesn't pay bills.

Yep. What I found too was that I didn't even have time to go to the beach when working long hours. I stayed in from the heat, did errands or caught up on my sleep rather than contend with the traffic which is a real issue in much of the urban areas.

Thanks ProudRN2010...I mean some of these people were taking this s*** way way way too seriously. I know I like to read and post things for fun and vent if I need to vent to my fellow nurses...we nurses should play for the same team here..and should be able to have fun or vent or whatever...Lord knows WE all work VERY hard and want to have fun! I mean seriously all that drama over NOTHING is just crazy to me...again as nurses we deal with enough drama. That crap is WAY too serious for a Friday night :)

Sungrl - I'll take a stab at this as I've lived and worked in both Lake Havasu and all over FL (traveler):

FL - hot and swampy in the summer, decent in the winter, Lake Havasu -HOT in the summer and decent in the winter. Don't believe what anyone says about "but it's a dry heat" in AZ -after 110 degrees it's just d*mn hot!

If you like water sports there's lots in both places - Lake Havasu is covered with boats and jet skis in the summer. Depending on how you feel about partiers - it can get quite wild on weekends and holidays.

Depending on where you are considering in FL you will probably be closer to major urban areas in FL, though it's not that long of a drive from Havasu to Vegas - less than 2 hours but isolated desert driving in between (unless you want to go on the bus trip with the retirees!) Though there is a little casino on the reservation a boat ride across the lake.

As for the hospitals it again would depend on which you are looking at.

And I still think one of the weirdest things ever is that guy that bought the London Bridge and had it rebuilt in Lake Havasu!

For the gator/scorpion comparison - I've never had to shake a gator out of my shoe - at least you know where those suckers are!

OK, so if I'm understanding correctly....you are really NOT remotely interested in answers to your original post???

Nice to know. Thanks for asking. Too bad you didn't post a "vent" but instead chose to ask a question, which many or your fellow nurses @ allnurses.com chose to answer.

Thanks for the time wastage.

Whatever you say Roser13....not even going to engage you...you are definately NOT worth my time. Whatever you think...dont care.
