Hey guys...which location is better to live and work in the Lake Havasu, AZ area or Destin/Florida Panhandle?
Congrats on your offers! That is so exciting.
Where in FL? We have a second home on the gulf side and I would move there in a heartbeat. Real estate in FL has not hit rock bottom yet and it is soooo low-you could get a great deal on a waterfront home for $250,000. BUT there are some downsides to FL too-the humidity, hot summers, etc. It does offer a great, healthy lifestyle because you can swim year round, walk/run/bike year round, access to fresh fruits, etc.
We have friends from AZ and they loved AZ and would move back if they could.
Good luck!
Seriously BluegrassRN..if I was not specific enough...I have NEVER been to Arizona so I wouldnt know what to expect..I do not have any kids and just was wondering about the living situation out there...what to do, climate etc....hence the question. I dont have time for negativity and dont need it either. The question is not a big deal...really...just trying to get info on either places...if it is a HUGE waste of your energy, then please dont respond.
It's not a huge waste of my energy, and if trying to get some specifics from you is negative, well you're right then, I'm a hag. I wanted to address your question, but found the broadness of it a little ridiculous and difficult to address. Since you continue to fail to supply details other than you have no children, I wonder what info you're seeking. Equally vague responses?
Since you don't supply any criteria for your choice....if you like varied climate, are interested in working with a Native population, aren't into the urban scene, aren't dependent upon routine, easily obtained amenities like regular Phone service, if you like outdoor activities like hiking and camping, go with the job in Arizona. Of you want to be close to the culture of a big city, have a partner who will be looking for employment, like a more populated area and all that entails, and you like a temperate climate, chose the Florida job.
Wow BluegrassRN...all I can say is seriously WOW. This has gone on a whole other level...I was just asking a question to get some opinions...GENERAL..NOT specific. I only meant for this to be light hearted and fun...lord knows when we nurses work 12-16 hour shifts with little to no breaks and much stress we wanna place to chill, have fun, and vent to other nurses.
Which are better, boys or girls? Do tall women or short women make better wives? Which tastes better, marinara or pesto sauce?Seriously, how can you even pose such a question? The criteria we each set for our lives is so incredibly varied, unless you provide us with some specifics (which has a higher unemployment rate, cost of living, etc), how can anyone but yourself possibly answer that question?
BluegrassRN:
Congrats to you for saying what I think about at least 50% of the posts here, which is: "How in the hell would we know?"
Seriously! Not only do we not know the OP's criteria for "better," but how can any one responder know the full range of possibilities??
Just sayin......

And you would seriously take the word of an online responder in making your career/life choice?
Again...this is gone WAY WAY on another level...I was just having fun and posting a general question. No big deal...seriously! If someone is offended I am very sorry...I am just posting a general question about those particular areas just to see what my fellow nurses had to say. I honestly was just having fun and not even taking it seriously. I am NOT NOT trying to offend...just asking a general question...really not a big deal to me. And NO for the one hundredth time I am NOT am NOT basing a life decision on what people say on this site...I am just having fun and asking a general question...that is all. REALLY I promise I have no motive...people are taking this s*** WAY WAY WAY too seriously!!!! Really LIGHTEN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you are bat sheet crazy if you are going to move someplace you have never even visited, lol. Go out there, spend a week traveling meeting people. Subscribe to the newspapers and find out what is going on in both areas.
I've never been to Arizona, but I love the Fl panhandle, and I won't move anyplace where rattlesnakes are one of the first things that comes up in a thread about the locale. Say what you will about alligators, they make outstanding shoes, belts and bags, and a tasty snack
