Where do you study?

Where do you spend most of your time studying/doing homework? When I was in A&P and Micro, where most of the homework was reading and memorizing, I would sit in my recliner with my textbook and POL (puppy on lap). This term I'm taking chemistry, which I do at the kitchen table so I can spread all my stuff out and write out my homework problems. :specs: I try to get everything pretty much done by the time the kids get home from school so they can have a snack at the table, but most of the time I'm not finished yet when they get home.

I have never studied at the library. Why? I don't know! :clown: Where do you all study?

I study on my bed mostly. I have a desk, but it doesn't seem to stay clean enoguh to be able to sit and spread out everything. When I am on campus, I study in the Bio. lab. Since, I work there it is easy. When there are no classes in there it is so quiet and has very little distractions.

I'm weird. I have a desk to study at, complete with computer, but I prefer my king-size bed, where I spread everything out, have my laptop, and just semi-recline and write notes, read, etc. Sometimes I bring it all down to the sofa in the living room, but that darn TV somehow just turns itself on to some great programs! LOL

and if you have young kids...its amazing how interesting those cartoons become!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I study for 2-3 hours every morning (mon-fri) in our school library right in front of the computer. I like to google things, check email and read while I am there. I find that working in front of the computer is really useful because if I'm reading about something and I want to know more, I can google it and find info that really helps me understand it. For example, I was looking up bones in the hand yesterday and it helped me put that stuff to memory.

Other times I just spread out on the dining room table. I am doing that this afternoon. I can actually get a lot done even though my boys are running around playing and my husband is here in the other computer sitting next to me. It's almost like "family" time, we are all just sitting here together. Oftentimes my son gets on the computer while I'm reading and I can multitask and help him on nick.com AND read about the skeletal system at the same time. :chuckle

Oh yeah! It's pretty bad when you start thinking, "Spongebob really isn't that bad......." :rotfl:

When I was in nursing school I would go to library and study before class. On weekends I would study in my bedroom, usually sitting on the floor with my back against the bed because I didn't have desk.

Now that I'm a homeowner now, I've got a room with my computer in it and spouse bought me a nice desk for Xmas because I'm back in school again. There's enough room on this desk to study, surf the net, etc. Other than that I'm at kitchen table, or on the couch. If I take a school book to bed, I'm guaranteed to fall asleep.

:)

i prefer studying at my desk if i'm working on an essay, lab reports or tutorial questions - can't write neat on a bed! when i'm only doing required reading, not writing - my bed.

one place i can't study is a library. i need a little bit of background noise, whether it is the tv or music.

I don't even bother writing out an essay. It seems for myself, I can think better with a laptop in front of me, rather than pen and pencil.

i type essays on my laptop - occasionally i will write out an 'essay plan', but i generally use a computer for essays. i only write out lab reports, study notes & tutorial questions/answers. :)

I used to study in bed but recently moved to the love seat I have in my room. I have a coffee table in front of the couch that I keep all my books under. Next to the couch is my printer and other supplies. I have my laptop on a little lap table thing so it can rest flat on my lap or it sits on the table. My cat hangs out on the top of the sofa and my son hangs out on my bed. The TV is mostly on cartoons until I get too distracted and I send him to his playroom in the basement.

I must be weird, because I usually can't study at home! :uhoh3: I start thinking about all the housework that has to be done or keep getting interrupted by the phone...or get tempted to turn on the t.v.! LOL

I'm 5 weeks into my first semester and have tried two different study spots so far. The first place I've studied at was the huge lobby of one of our local hospitals (the one I hope to work at someday, actually). I thought just being there would give me the right "vibe" to be motivated enough to study. You know....see nurses walking around and be inspired to study my butt off! LOL Well, that one didn't work too well. Instead of being inspired to study, I was too fascinated by all the medical staff walking around...looking at them in awe and wishing I was one of them already! The second place I've studied at is the cafe/coffee shop at my church. That environment worked really well for me, and I managed to get a lot of studying done. So, I think I'm going to stick with that for now. I'm also considering trying to study at the Barnes & Noble coffee shop or Starbucks. Just trying new study locations has kept me motivated so far. This is the first time I've been back in school in over 10 yrs., so I need all the motivation I can get! LOL

I usually study on y bed with a pillow propped behind my back and my books on my lap. Or on the couch. I only went to the library 2 times and didn't find it appealing. I find I need some noise while studying but not loud noise. :Melody:
