I am not unsympathetic to your concern. Heaven knows that there are plenty of lousy employers who try to coerce employees to do all kinds of things that are not in their best interests. But that said, no one can make an employee come to work. Your co-worker came in because s/he preferred to do so than to address the possible ramifications of calling in sick.
Hope s/he is feeling better.
I agree it's going to be a tough sale because employee chose to come in. If they were injured enough to stay home and work would have compromised it they should have had a doctor's excuse and stayed home.
If there were no negative consequences of the person working, there probably isn't much to do now.
They were in a car accident hairline fracture to clavicle. Management knew about it. I just think it is horrible the way management treats people sometimes. Yes, Jolie I agree management can not make someone come in but they sure like to bully and threaten. Unfortunately not everyone stands up for themselves like they should. If it were me I would have refused to come in.
Usually where I have worked, holidays are treated slightly different then other days in relation to doctor's notes etc.. If she was not fit to work I would think she would have a doctor's note related to when she could come back to work, some facillities require it after three days sick yet also on holidays. Your facillity may not have a general policy on that issue, but to save future problems, may need to address it.

Does anyone know where I can report this? I don't want to go into too much detail. Basically I know someone who was told they had to come into work (it was their holiday to work, we rotate) even though they had been injured the day before.(injury was not work related) If it were me I would have refused but this person came in anyway. management not only put this employee at risk of being injured further but also the patients.
