Where Do You Study???

Published

Hello all!!!

This is my first Thread! I really want to know where do all my fellow nursing students can really focus and study at? I am having a hard time finding somewhere to study to where i can really focus. So far the school library seems to do it, but i can't always go as much as i need to study, nor do i have the gas to make extra trips during the week. Soo Where do you study????

I find that the very best place to study is in my bedroom in the late night hours or the early morning hours. Your brain seems to be more alert and active, just like after a good work out , your brain seems to be pumping more endorphins. The best lighting to study by is fluorscent and daylight , these types of lighting that are most conducive to learning and that help you to focus and learn, try changing your lighting also. It works for me every time it seems to make a difference!! Hope this helps!!!:up:

i have found that the kitchen table in my apartment works great when i need to get away. (i also live alone though, so there is no distraction of roomies) if it's a room you associate relaxing or sleeping in, it can be kind of difficult. last semester when i lived in the dorms i would load my books in my car and go sit in the sonic parking lot in my car and study. there is adequate lighting and little distractions. good luck to you! :)

I study at home with my door shut, TV off, Facebook put away, and my favorite Pandora station on.

I'll go to the library for finals and group projects, but I normally hate making the trip there.

When I was in high school I could never study at home due to my rambunctious brothers. I learned to get up at 4 am. I could get my work done when it was quiet and nobody was around to bother me. You could get up at three when you have a lot of studying to get done. Go to bed early to make up for the difference. Try it sometime.

My home office here. The library was a no go after the last time I was there and asked to leave....

Is there a story that goes with that?:jester:

I study in my bedroom. While reading I write on my whiteboard and teach my bed the concept. It beats the memorization factor right away. Whe I go to class, I am very aware of my topic that is going to be discussed. It takes me about 30 minutes to 'teach' 20 pages, so I spend a lot of time doing it. After class, I make note cards for the lecture. It really helps me. I learn better by teaching.

My public library has a "quiet room" where there is no noise whatsoever..it's a really great place to get some studying done.

Lets just say that if you go to the library, dont sit there, watch a movie with a group of friends while yelling the entire freaking time. I liked to study there but it was over run with people that went there just to hang out and talk. I had finally had enough of it and asked them rather politely ( ) to leave.

I used to study in the basement of my school's library. It was literally deserted and I spent hours there without seeing a soul.

I'm not a nursing student anymore but the best place for me to study was at home locked up in my room! I had my computer and could spread all my papers and books out on my bed. I could never REALLY study at the library. I couldn't completely tune everything out. Plus, the living room couch was great for those Pharmacology crams till 1am! I could pass out and drool in my book in peace! Good Times. :lol2:

I agree when I can not make it to the campus library, I go to the public library. I do try to avoid the weekends at the public library though, there are more children there on the weekends.

For me, I think considering the way I've seen many teenagers studying with Ipod music, TV, etc. that it is not WHERE you find to study but the way you approach it! I believe from my own experience that you can learn to tune out all the extraneous noise and interference if you totally tune into the information you are reading. If you make a conscious decision to really consume this information and understand it completely, then it becomes much easier to tune out the rest of the world! Now this certainly doesn't work and can't work if you are home with little ones, but if this is not the case, give this way a try...approach the work with complete focus like it is the most important thing in the world (and this can be difficult with some of the material!). I wish you luck and adventure on your journey!:yeah:
