We had a patient who was in for ETOH withdrawal. His mom (who looked like she was also on something) brought him percocet and a variety of beer one night. I think she slipped herself a few of each before brining them to her son cause she was something else...

Had another ETOH'er make his way out to a convenience store up the street and bring back a few 40's.

Working on a telemetry unit I had a 50 something year old man in with CAD. His girlfriend brought in a rather large cheeseburger with fries and a side of onion rings for him. And she was an RN. Maybe she didn't know what CAD was?

This isn't a something its a someone. I was in clinicals and not only was the patients wife there but also his girlfriend... and they all wondered why the patient was so anxious. Needless to say the girlfriend was nominated to make all the medical decisions for the patient.

It is a three way tie;

1. pet snake

2. pet mouse...escaped and retrieved without harm, lots of screaming though

3. large glow in the dark, uhm, vibrating device.

:uhoh3:

Too bad the first two didn't happen at the same time. Have the pet snake "find" the pet mouse. One problem solved!

A pt's husband brought in a whole roasted chicken for her. Problem was pt was 400lbs+ and on a 1600 cal ADA diet...

By the time we found out all we found was the carcass. :eek:

I guess you found out who her enabler was.

The patient's frail and confused spouse-to spend the day while the adult child went shopping or to a wedding or ran errands or went to work...

Someone snuck a puppy in for me once (this was after a MVA more than 10 years ago--before I knew better). Anyway, I had a bunch of visitors and I was playing with the cute li'l pupster--the nurse walked in. Someone grabbed my sheet and pulled it over the dog...leaving me bare-a*$ed (my company was co-ed, btw--AND included my mother). The nurse stared at the scene, all of us remained absolutely poker-faced. She slowly backed out of the room saying "well, call me if you need anything"

She was a great nurse :)

I can't believe I did that.
