What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I went to school with a Prince and Princess (they were brother and sister). My step-mom wanted to name her child Zero if she ever had one (she didn't).....her last name started with a Z. My friend said that her Dad wanted to name her Penelope Candice (sp?) and call her Penny Candy. My husband wanted to name our son after an Aztec ruler.....I said no way! We decided on Julian ;)

In a town nearby the are Soda and Lollie Popp :)

I do photos of newborn's on the weekends and had a lady who named her daughter Amunique (pronouced I'm unique)

I did not know Dorkus was a saint but there was a girl 2 years ahead of me in highschool and that was her name (I'm over 40)

Hey my Grandmother was named 'Pearl" :rotfl:

From my childhood growing up in Central Mississippi and going to public school I remember several girls named Latrina. I never realized until I was in my 20's that without the a at the end it sounds like a word for a urinal. This name was so common it never crossed my mind. We also had in my class a Eureeka. I guess her parents felt they had struck gold!

Quadayle. I never knew if this was some strange abridgement of Dan Quayle and never asked.
