What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

NO that's not a joke...she was a young Hispanic woman...not that it makes a difference...but it still looks funny

Pronounced shhhted

We got a little chuckle out of that one, for sure.

I have known a Treasure, a Precious, and a Pharoah.

Dusty Clough (which they pronounce "cloth")

Comfort Shields

Oh, just remembered Sabean. They kept saying "It's a bean" in baby talk to the baby, you know how we do. It turned into Sabean.

My brother named his son Ceasar (what that kid has to live up to!)

Recently we had to talk a patient out of naming her baby what sounded like shutosh but when we asked her to spell it it was, sh*ta**. We told her there was no way we were going to put that on that babies birth certificate.

Then we had a hispanic couple think we had already named the baby and they liked it, Female.

Talking about the blue thing, have a friend whose babies middle name is sky and their last name is blue.

Then there was one Whose name was Crystal Lier, wasn't to bad until you put the middle name in it. Crystal Shanda Lier.

That one's been posted a thousand times already Greenjanell. Please think of something original.

:D How about these...Miranda, Cymphany, Drako, and Dravin...Names of nieces/nephews. My niece Carisma just named her baby Enchantment, I swear I tried to talk her out of it.

Hi all! This is the first post I have ever made. I usually just look.....but I have to say that I cannot believe Miranda is being put in with the weird name thread.......this is my name by the way, and while it is not that common, I have never thought of it as weird, I had a girl in my high school graduating class named this also.... oh well

while I am posting I might as well say that my Dad swears to me that he went to school with a guy name Lon Moore.

Miranda is a great name - not weird at all. I work with one whose nickname is "Randi".

I did not know Dorkus was a saint but there was a girl 2 years ahead of me in highschool and that was her name (I'm over 40)

I believe it's spelled Dorcas.

Hi - This is a Turkish name spelt Farty but pronounced "Far-too"

Unfortunate spelling in English...
