I also took my NCLEX-RN on Friday and found out today with the quick results that I passed with 75. Don't give up and let us know how you did.

My mother-in-law will go to the doctor and then call me. I'll ask "what did the dr say?" her "everything is fine but they are going to do some tests" me "what are they doing?" her " uh i don't remember" me "Well what are they looking for" her "I don't know" This drives me nuts.

Thanks for your advice. I will remember it. I do really want the ICU and have no problem studying at home. I want to do the best I can and do what is the safest for the patients. I too will be working nights but I think I have quite a few days on orientation.

Hi everybody. I just graduated this weekend and I guess it hasn't really sunk in yet. Anyway I start my new job as a GN on Jan 5th in the SICU and I would really appriciate any advice you might have. I am very nervous because I feel like I don't know enough though I have heard that this is normal for anyone just getting out of nursing school. I know many of you have been doing this for years and you are the best people to get advice from. Thanks for any input.:heartbeat

I am 35 and be graduating in December. I must say that I am very envious of the girls in my class that are in their early 20's. :bowingpur All of them have their heads on straight and are very good students. They study hard and are excellent in clinicals. They will make awesome nurses. I know that at that age there is no way I could have gone through nursing school. I was no way mature enough to study and get throught nursing school much less having someone else's life in my hands. I think for me personally going to school after I got married and had kids was much better. I needed the life experience and that extra maturity. I don't think that age is a factor as much as maturity and readiness. There are many young nurses that are probably more competent than some older nurses. No one can assume based on age whether or not they will be good and competent.

They said I would have a preceptor all summer and be doing things along with the nurse. I think that this should be awesome experience. Thank you for you reply

Hi. This is my first post and I was wondering something. I got a externship this summer in the MNSICU at our University hospital and now I am scared. I am supposed to graduate with my ADN in December and I want to know what exactly happens with externships. I have never worked in a hospital except for clinicals. They said I will be with a preceptor and follow her around then move into doing things too. I was wondering if this is going to be the excellent learning experience that I hope it is. I think that I will learn a tremendous amount of stuff and they said if they like me I can stay. Thanks for listening and I would appreciate any input you all may have since you have experience.

I think that I only had two occurences but they were back to back. I was on meds then when I came home and finished I started again. I called my dr. and they started another round. To be honest I have no idea what I was on cause at the time I was not even thinking about becoming a nurse so I had no idea. I did learn though to eat yogart to help restore the bodies normal flora. Hope this helps and good luck. I'm sure everything thing will be fine but I know that having this and trying to take care of a newborn is not an easy task.

Hi all! I am from the heart of MO good ole' Jefferson City. I was born and raised here. My husband and I actually bought the house I was raised in. I am starting my second year in Jan. I will graduate in Dec 08'. I have three kids 11 year old girl, 5 year old boy, and 2 year old girl. I am fortunate I don't have to work or else I don't think I could do it. Hubby is awesome but is ready for this to be done. I am glad I found this post as it seemed that no body is from near me. Good luck to all.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one to make bloopers. First semester on the first time to pass meds, I went in with my instructor. I was so nervous and trying to do everything right with the 5 rights and 3 ID checks. Well as I was opening those little bubble wrapped pills my hand slipped and I spilled every one on the floor. My instructor laughed and rolled her eyes at me. Needless to say I was searching for pills all over the floor and then we started over at the pixis. Second semester, just finished yeah!, I was in the OR observing when the surgeon asked me to hold the little tabby thing on his gown. I did but then accidently dropped it. Instead of just letting it fall I reached for it. Can you say broken sterility?:trout: I wanted the floor to swallow me right there and then. I still have two semesters to go so I'm sure I will be able to add more later.

It is not too late. I am 34 with 3 kids, a husband, a dog and a cat with 6 kittens. I started in January 07. It is not easy but the majority of my class is at least 30. Good Luck!

I got done with my a&p lab Thursday. Got an A yeah!! On monday I have Nutrition final, Tuesday is A&P lecture final and Wednesday is Microbiology Final. I am also so ready for this semester to be over.

I am just pre-nursing and this thread scares me to death. I know everybody is human and makes mistakes. I know I will always try to check and recheck every med. This thread really does open the eyes of us non-nursing (yet) Thank you
