The hospital has definately seen changes in the five years I have been there thus the need for the union. Nurse patient ratios have increased without taking into consideration acuity. Sick time is 3 days/year (much less than other hospitals in the area). I agree that some floors do not seem to have many holes and per diems are being put on call often because of this but other floors have many holes and are being expected to work short often. Pension plan was cut by 40% recently. Health coverage changed to aetna because of the hospital not being able to negotiate with blue cross blue shield. Definately consider your benefits when doing your research. Salary should not be your only criteria. If you are looking for convenience of location then Newton may be for you.

Anyone have any funny nursing school stories from their past? I had to change an IV bag and went in with my instructor to do so. My instructor always made me nervous but I was determined to remain confident and do the task....it wasnt difficult. She proceeded to ask me what was in the bag and I told her normal saline. She told me "ok, go ahead" and stood back to watch. I proceeded to pull out the line to put it into the new bag, but didn't take it off the IV pole before doing so. I received a saline bath with the remaining fluid that was in the bag. My instructor ran to get a towel and we cleaned up the wet floor. She then asked me to step outside the room. I thought I was going to hear it. What I heard was her laughing and telling me that I had to laugh sometimes and "everyohne has a saline bath once and then it never happens again." I still don't believe her but its funny looking back now.

I am in an orientation program with a bunch of new RNs. One of the women in the group had 265 questions and she found out she passed. Best of luck!! Julie

By the way.... I too had 75 questions and found out today that I passed.

So sorry to hear that you have to wait sooo long! I took the test on the 8th and found out today (the 10th). The two day wait drove me nuts and you are right, unless it is someone who went through it they don't understand. They don't understand how much sweat and agony has gone into preparing for the do or die situation of this one test. If it makes you feel any better, I have not known anyone personally who had the test end at 75 questions and have failed. My instructor doesn't know of anyone either....so the odds are with you! Found out today that I passed the state boards. The other girl that had only 75 questions also passed. For anyone else who has this same question it seems as if the majority pass if the test ends at 75.

Hi All, Took the test on the 8th of March and my machine shut off at 75. I was excited at the time as many in my class had the same thing happen and they all passed. Then my friend sent me a link to one of these forums and it said that someone knew of many who failed with only 75 questions. Now I'm a wee bit nervous. I was wondering if anyone else had the computer shut off at 75 questions and whether they passed or failed? I should know on the 10th whether I passed or failed but this waiting is killing me! Hi, If you are taking the test on the 10th good luck! I just took mine on the 8th and the machine shut off at 75. I was sooo excited because many others from my class had the same thing happen and they all passed. After my friend showed me a couple of links from these forums I don't feel so confident as a few said that they knew people who failed with 75 questions. Hope that isn't the case here but won't know til tomorrow. The waiting is torture.
