What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Re James Arthur and Arthur James: Ann Landers was Esther Pauline Friedman--"Eppie"--and her twin, Abigail Van Buren (Dear Abby) was Pauline Esther Friedman--"Popo".

It sure has...You know, for as many times as I have heard of moms naming their baby Placenta, I'm wondering why I've never met any. :)

Yep, but I'm sure you've met someone who's aunt's friend or daughters clinical instructor, or neighbors son has.:coollook:

I personally am waiting for the post where mom's name is Placenta, dad's is Nosmo King, and they're arguing over their twin babies-due in 2 months. Mom wants Oranjello and Lemonjello, but dad already has 2 sets of cousins with those names. Eventually, though, they finally settle and welcome little baby girl lady parts (pronounced, of course, vah GEE nah) and little baby boy Meconium. He's being welcomed home by big brother Shithead and big sister Asshole (pronounced ah SHOLE ee). Mom's sister privy parts is the God mother.

Of course they're poor, minority, and teenagers.

I think some people honestly believe they are being funny.. sad.. Like they take there last name and run w/ it.. I went to school with Apple Seed.. her sibblings included.. wait for it.. Pumkin, and Peach.. I know Peach's have pitts.. but it was so freakin odd...

But what about when they name one a wierd name and the others normal..??? I know of twins, boy and girl.. the boy is named Kloud Skye but the girl.. Ann with no middle name!! And no, not native american.

Don't hit me for calling these odd:

family with Caylob, Chayce, Kyaleigha, and Cheyenna ... actually, I don't know how Cheyenna's name was spelled -- probably not that normal.

family with boys -- Larry and Rick, girls -- Panda and Mitzi... I guess Mitzi isn't that unusual, but it sure seemed they picked on the girls.

family with triplet girls -- Obie, Ocie, Odie -- for real, they would be about 90 years old now... but the last one died a few years ago.

I recently heard about triplet girls named Hope, Tomorrow, Destiny. There must have been serious thought behind those names!

I had a patient recently named Legna. I asked about the origin of her name. Her father (Angel--pronounced Ahn hel) gave her his name in reverse.

My name is Oleta (rhymes with Lolita). I've never had another Oleta in class with me. I have met a few though. When I moved to Miami I found the Oleta River. (American Indian name)

I have a relative named Esja. Pronounced S-ya. I don't think it is weird though. Just very unique. It is a mountain in Iceland. (If I remember correctly) I loved the name the minute I heard it.

I have worked as a substitute teacher and sometimes I would come across names that were normal sounding but with some strange way of spelling it. Sorry can't think of any specific examples right now. Big question to the parents.....Why?

I had a 'baby Daddy' yesterday named Famous.
