When I start clinicals, I'd like to offer some treats to the nurses. I'm curious what people would like to find sitting out in the break room for their consumption.
The three things that I'm considering:
1) Individual packs of trail mix - It's nutritious (albeit salty) and tasty
2) Bagels - I love 'em and they're better than donuts, especially if you can forego the cream cheese (uh, yeah, right...)
3) Muffins - I'm a sucker for poppyseed muffins.
So, when you're having a hectic day, what would bless you to find sitting on the table when you pop into the break room for 5 minutes?
Chocolate! Any form! Kisses or the one-bite mini-chocolate bars so you don't go overboard. Or brownies, cut into bite-size pieces for just a taste of chocolate. (You can even buy what they call a "bucket of brownie bites" around here; a plastic container of micro brownies that are spoonful sized portions of batter baked in tiny muffin or cookie shapes.)
Give me CHOCOLATE or else!!
There are times when you just have to have it...
The real thing, 70% is supposed to be very good for you. I believe it, maybe because I want to.
I think the hardest thing is the 30 minutes meal break. WTH?That ain't time to make anything decent and, unless you're in a major hospital, dream on about a salad bar.
My rural hospital (10 acute beds) has a great salad bar.
I'd like fresh fruit, veggies, nuts, and really good freshly ground coffee (not the hospital coffee). I need something that doesn't give me a carb high and then a quick descent into fatigue.

Honestly....if I were you I'd wait until later. It could be viewed by both your instructor..AND your fellow students as sucking up if you do it the first day. Now..if it's after a few weeks..and you do it as a thank you for everyones help, advice..etc...I'd think that would be better recieved.

How about a break! It seems that you can't go in there for break or lunch and not be interrupted with a phone call or constant questions. Just a thought...
