When I start clinicals, I'd like to offer some treats to the nurses. I'm curious what people would like to find sitting out in the break room for their consumption.
The three things that I'm considering:
1) Individual packs of trail mix - It's nutritious (albeit salty) and tasty
2) Bagels - I love 'em and they're better than donuts, especially if you can forego the cream cheese (uh, yeah, right...)
3) Muffins - I'm a sucker for poppyseed muffins.
So, when you're having a hectic day, what would bless you to find sitting on the table when you pop into the break room for 5 minutes?
Tempurpedic pillows (down is acceptable). A soft light (candle light or lava lamp are both appropriate*). A soothing voice (may be disembodied). The smell of the ocean (fresh spring, or spring rain work too). My dog (or spouse).
*Caution with oxygen tanks if candle light is chosen
or, ok, reality? really? ughh. a tidy place to sit down. Some fresh fruit--covered please, flies not welcome in paradise. A friendly colleague and a moment to share a smile, even if it's the saddest or most aggravated smile you can muster.
Peace
Thank you :)I decided it would be a good one to use after i got bored and figured out just HOW much i spend in coffee:lol2:
I drink a lot of coffee, too. People have said my coffee was strong enough to peel paint, and strong enough to climb out of the cup and walk. This last came from someone who made really weak coffee.
i ran into the breakroom today, after another nurse announcing he had made a fresh pot of coffee.
IT WAS DECAF!!!!!
that's worse than having no coffee.
i needed that fix so badly, too.
on my way home, i stopped at a coffee shop and asked for coffee from the bottom of the pot.
who the heck drinks decaf?
and why???
that's like having some chocolate w/o the sugar.

Thanks for the input, all.
It looks like fruit/veggie plates and some good coffee would take the cake (so to speak).
I appreciate the "may look like a suck-up" caution. It's kind of funny because of the many things of which I've been accused in my life, a suck-up is not one of them. I don't think I'd ever take credit for putting the treats in there. Probably they'd be from our class as a whole.
To me, it's something along the lines of always bringing something to a party or a dinner -- just to acknowledge the effort of the host.
