When I start clinicals, I'd like to offer some treats to the nurses. I'm curious what people would like to find sitting out in the break room for their consumption.
The three things that I'm considering:
1) Individual packs of trail mix - It's nutritious (albeit salty) and tasty
2) Bagels - I love 'em and they're better than donuts, especially if you can forego the cream cheese (uh, yeah, right...)
3) Muffins - I'm a sucker for poppyseed muffins.
So, when you're having a hectic day, what would bless you to find sitting on the table when you pop into the break room for 5 minutes?
Honestly....if I were you I'd wait until later. It could be viewed by both your instructor..AND your fellow students as sucking up if you do it the first day. Now..if it's after a few weeks..and you do it as a thank you for everyones help, advice..etc...I'd think that would be better recieved.
Some of the clinical groups where I work bring in food the very last clinical. Some go all out and have a nice covered dish meal, others just desserts and snacks. But waiting until the end is a nice way to thank the staff for working with you. Unless of course it's one of those units that hates studenets, forgets they were once students and treats them like garbage.

Don't scare me now . .. . . I'll be "orientating" in a new unit soon. ;)
;)
(One of the nurses in my 3 day class this week said "orientating" It took all my willpower to NOT correct her.)

Fruit and/or vegetables, perhaps with cheese cubes or dip, would be nice. Very few people wouldn't be able to enjoy at least some part of that.
Personally, I would steer clear of things like candy or coffee. Otherwise nurses who may have dietary restrictions or who may not like coffee would just be left out.

There are 600 people in this town . . about 3000 in the whole valley.
No salad bar on the weekends though.
