I've been orienting on a med surg floor with the BEST preceptor! I'd like to get her a special gift to thank her for being so great. Any suggestions? I don't know of anything that she collects, or has a particular passion for. She's married, has 2 kids she adores, and she really loves her job. What kind of gift would you like to receive?

Perhaps a gift certificate to a good local restaurant...good way for her and her husband to have a night out. Or offer to take her out to lunch one day.

I don't think there is anyone in the world who wouldent like a gift certificate from bath and body works.

Personally, I'd rather have the gift certificate to the restaurant, I am one who wouldn't like a gift certificate from bath and body works, but everyone eats.
Isn't it illegal to dislike bath and body works? :chuckle

What about a gift certificate for a manicure somewhere....you know we have a hard time keeping our hands and nails in good shape...with all that handwashing we do

Perhaps a gift cert to a local spa/salon where she can get a massage, pedicure, facial or whatever her little overworked mind and body desires!!

how kind of you to want to say thank you in such a way. if it was for me, a hug and a thank you would be more than enough, however, i will agree with the gift certificate for a nice restaurant.

I don't think it matters. Be sure to include a nice card that let's your preceptor know how you feel. That's going to lift her/him up more than any gift.
Also, be sure to send a note of appreciation to the person's manager. Brownie points are always appreciated. :)

Now this is what I'm talking about! Ahhhhh....a massage at a local spa/salon...a pedicure, a facial, and whatever else would ease my tired mind and body. Yes, this would be the PERFECT gift as I see it.
Oh, to answer your question "what would you like".

I couldn't agree more. Put your thoughts in writing to her and her immediate supervisor. It is wonderful when doing an evaluation on an employee to have this kind of stuff to note in a yearly review.
If you are a student money might be tight. A batch of homemade cookies or brownines for her kids is just as nice as a more formal gift.
That you will be telling her that she has made a difference in your life is such a wondeful thing. Good luck in your studies.
