Just wondering what everyones plans are if you don't get accepted. I don't know what to do. There are no more nursing schools I can apply to in this area and with my family ,traveling a long distance is just not in the cards right now. I may just go to work as a nurse aid since I do have that certification. Maybe I will work hard and get a bunch of bills paid off!
Anyway hopefully it won't come to that and I will get the letter saying I got in. Tell me your ideas!

Mostly likely i will cry my eyes out:cry: This will be my 3rd time applying and to be rejected or put on a wait-list again will be truely depressing. But I am feeling very confident this time around and hoping that the 3rd time is the charm!!!! I guess I do have a backup, I applied to the LPN program and two RN programs so I am hoping I get into at least one of those. Wish me luck.

I was panicking so much that I would not get in that i considered a career change. I was considering a sign language interpreter, which is actually a great career. :heartbeat

I work as a medical assistant at a pediatric clinic. I have been here for a year now..........well a year as of June 4th. I love every minute of it. I give immunizations, we see sick kids, do well child checks, all kinds of stuff. I became an MA because I thought I wasn't smart enough to become a nurse. Well...........it is happening now. I got accepted this year and will start in September.
A few things you could do if you don't get accepted to nursing school is become a medical assistant. You can work in doctors offices, hospitals, urgent care, clinics, etc. Pay isn't bad either.
A few other things you could do is become a LPN. I also thought about getting a bachelors degree in science then applying to PA (physicians assistant) school. If that didn't work there was the of possibility of becoming a teacher and teaching a health occupations class for high school students.
That has all changed now that I have been accepted to nursing school. So if it doesn't happen now, you can always continue your education to work towards something. I would keep applying as the years go by. You never know when you will get that accpetance letter you have been dieing for. If you don't get in to nursing school you can still work in the health care field. There are so many alternatives to nursing that I never even thought about. Just keep an open mind and good luck. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
I will be crying either way, tears of joy or of disappointment. I would like to stay in the health field either way. There is a medical assistant class at the tech school I had thought about trying so I guess I can still do that if I don't get in. Keep your fingers crossed anyway I will be thinking about all of you for the next two weeks while waiting.

You gave wonderful advice. When I didn't get in last year I decided to get my CNA license, I forgot to mention that, and I guess being an MA would be put me in the direction I want to go anyway. But I am hoping that I at least get in the LPN program this time around. Its so competitive around here but I will keep at it.

If I don't get in I am going to finish taking social work courses. I started taking them so I would have a back-up plan if I get rejected. But I will apply again next year. I will also be applying to several more schools. I may also take an EMT course. The more medical experience before I get into the nursing program the better. I took a phlebotomy course this spring and I absolutely LOVED it!! I had so much fun and I'm actually good at it!

NOT GETTING IN IS NOT AN OPTION.... we should think on what can you do to get in!!!
you will get in, sooner than you think, if you really want you will really get it! just "breath" the books, "live" the classes, and... you will do just fine, if i could do it, anyone can!

I didn't get in to the school I applied to for Fall 08, and I'm just going to keep trying! I'm taking a few more classes to finish up prereqs and make myself eligible to apply to more schools. I figure if I broaden my horizons I will hopefully get in somewhere the next time around. I'm also working a bunch and paying off some debt so it's easier to get by once I'm in nursing school and have to quit my job. Good luck and hang in there!!!
