Nurses Humor

Let's do something fun! Everybody on allnurses.com has a very interesting and unique username. What is the back story of your username? Mine is just like it states, "Life's a Journey!"

It's from the lyrics of "Hello, I Love You" by The Doors.
Do you hope to make her see you, fool?
Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel?

My name is Jackie and I am nurse too. Just like nurse Jackie, minus all the bad stuff I heard she does.

Shinnichi is how you would call a Japanophile (someone who loves Japanese culture, etc.). I love manga, anime, early Japanese architecture, food... I think you get the picture.

Poppy is my 10 year old calico cat. She is a big mama's baby.
Sassenach
Hi Sassenach, sorry to disappoint, but "Sassenach" is a disparaging name for an English person used by people from Scotland.Urban Dictionary: sassenachMy user name is purely because I am getting older and less tolerant and have now managed to create a persona where I can moan and groan and no-one really takes me seriously.

Haha Thank you GrumpyRN. I'm aware of the word is actually used for, so I'm not disappointed. It definitely is a disparaging name for an English person used by a Scotsman. It ALSO happens to be used as a term of endearment in the novel Outlander. You'll have to have read the books to understand I suppose. Many people use the term negatively towards our heroine, as she is a Sassenach. Our hero in the novels, uses it as a pet name for her, but not negatively. I don't know how else to explain! LOL Read the books!

I changed my user name recently, and I figured I would give an update. I recently saw an old conversation about whether it is A&Ox3/4. I maintain that I am more sane than them all, and thus I am A&Ox6

Kinda self explanatory. I'm prenursing now waiting to get into an ADN program for this coming fall. I want my user name to remind me why I'm doing this, I'm going to school with the purpose of becoming a nurse midwife. Hopefully when times get hard in school I'll look at my username and it will help me persevere and stay grounded. I have a long road ahead, a semester of Pre reqs left, 2 years of nursing school, another year or two for my RN to BSN program, then two to three years of midwifery school. IF all goes to plan, but with 2 young kids the likelihood of that happening, who knows?
