  1. Yay! I'm taking my last pre-reqs next semester too. I apply in May. At my school we have a 5 unit anatomy class (pre-req for physio) and a 5 unit physiology class separate and then micro. I have already taken micro, am currently in anatomy, and am taking physio next semester. It's a tough decision to make. It's absolutely doable. It's just about how much time you're willing to put into it. I'm taking physiology, math, and a beginner's ASL class next semester and then I'm done. I'll have 62 units in five semesters (counting one summer semester) and I'll hopefully be starting Nursing next fall. I like to take one easy-ish class to get it out of the way since it doesn't usually take that much time. Just pick something really easy like humanities.
  2. Haha Thank you GrumpyRN. I'm aware of the word is actually used for, so I'm not disappointed. It definitely is a disparaging name for an English person used by a Scotsman. It ALSO happens to be used as a term of endearment in the novel Outlander. You'll have to have read the books to understand I suppose. Many people use the term negatively towards our heroine, as she is a Sassenach. Our hero in the novels, uses it as a pet name for her, but not negatively. I don't know how else to explain! LOL Read the books!
  3. Are you an Outlander fan, RubberDuckieLove?
  4. Thank you everyone for such kind words. My class is taught by the director of our nursing program. I don't know why but she doesn't care if we do an in person interview, a phone interview, or an e-mail interview. It's a half-unit nursing guidance course. I'm not in nursing school yet. We were even given a list of questions. We don't even have to come up with them ourselves. (Sad, right?) Also, why would someone volunteer to answer questions like, "why is evidenced-based practice important in nursing?" if they weren't an RN? So I'll go and find an RN to interview in person next year when I'm a nursing student. For now, I'm perfectly happy with this method. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I'm currently a pre-nursing student. We have two full years (60 units) of prerequisites for the two year ADN program I am applying to in May. I'm almost there! I'm currently enrolled in a nursing guidance course where our major assignment is to interview a nurse. I would really appreciate anyone willing to volunteer to respond to my questions. I can e-mail them to you and give you a couple of days to respond. I appreciate your help with this! I am so excited to attend nursing school. Please respond or message me if you can with your e-mail address so I can e-mail you the questions. Thank you!!!
  6. Those new shoes for nursing school sure put a spring in her step.
  7. Anatomy Human life span development Speech Nursing guidance And food and nurtrition. This is my third semester. We have four semesters of full time pre-reqs for my program.
  8. A term of endermeant in my favorite novel Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
  9. I have two whole years of pre-reqs at 15 units per semester. I've completed my first year and I have a 4.0 but am definitely feeling the pressure. Mine is definitely one of the get super good grades or don't get in schools. We have roughly 800 applicants for thirty slots. I agree with RunBabyRun. Planning well is essential to succeeding.
  10. We have to take English, Psych, Sociology, Speech, Algebra unless you test out of it, Anatomy, Microbiology, and Physiology with pre-reqs of Biology and Chemistry. You get an extra point on your application if you take Foods and Nutrition. Same goes for the nursing guidance course they offer. These are the classes you have to take in order to apply to the program. You have to take additional classes before graduation in order to receive your ADN (I go to a CC). It's like two activities courses, a regular guidance course, Humanities course, and I think a few more. Lots of required classes at my school in NorCal. I'm currently second semester pre-nursing.
  11. If you went the LPN route you could try and find a job doing that before applying to the bridge program. If your application is based on a points system you usually get more points for work experience.
  12. Do you know how many spaces are available in your program? Just try to remember that THAT many people would have to have done better than you. Which I doubt. Because your GPA is perfect and your TEAS score is great. Here's a quote from one of my favorite people, Corrie ten Boom. "Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength." Apply, wait, live. If you don't get in (which you will) you'll still have your life and your health. You can apply again. Just be happy that you're finally there!
  13. I'm in Chemistry right now and I hate it. I love all of my other classes. Psychology and Biology and and English and Math, etc. But I hate chemistry. If I could pick one pre-req not to take it would be that one. But it's up to you. I wouldn't take it unless I had to... I'm in general psych right now and I love it. It's so interesting and I have a great teacher.
  14. My daughter had surgery on Friday and our nurse was AWESOME. She is exactly the reason I'm working towards becoming a nurse. People have to go to the hospital sometimes. I want to make that experience better like she did for us. My daughter is five years old and she was so scared and our nurse was just the best. I want to be just like her. Having a caring nurse makes all the difference.
  15. I am in my second semester of pre-requisites and I have a five year old and an 18 month old. It's tough but you can make it work. I have a white board calendar in the kitchen to write important dates on. You can do it!
