Alaska Republicans plan to hold a constitutional convention to change the constitution outlawing abortion.  That makes some sort of sense to conservatives in a rural state that leads the country in things like rape, domestic abuse and missing indigenous women.

Overturning Roe isn't  "outlawing abortion ". It's leaving it to the states.

Another case of exaggeration by our liberal members here.

First, a Constitutional Convention in Alaska is extremely unlikely to be approved by voters.

And, if it was, one Republican in an interview floated the idea that the issue might be debated IF a convention was held.

So to say "Alaska Republicans plan to hold a constitutional convention to change the constitution outlawing abortion" is simply fear-mongering that will become more and more common as the midterm shellacking of the Democrats gets closer.

Speaking of fear-mongering,  MSNBC actually gave airtime to explain how Justice Thomas wants to go back to an era when people were jailed for their private consenual sexual practices.

SMH..  it's going to be a long election season.

And I would agree, that should sound absurd.  But Thomas did actually say in his concurring opinion that the Lawrence case should be reconsidered (Lawrence v Texas was the case that said laws prohibiting gay sex are unconstitutional).

If only you had any idea what Thomas's opinion actually said you might not repeat these untrue beliefs.

Nothing. It was a ridiculous reply to a ridiculous suggestion that gay sex is going to be outlawed.

What world do people live in where they don't know his beliefs about using a pseudo religious cudgel to get those non-believers in line? He SAID what he SAID.  Why aren't impeachment proceedings started against him?

It might be ridiculous if it wasn't suggested by a sitting SCOTUS.

Right. Who said that? And even if they did, how would you enforce such a thing?

It's like you aren't paying attention. You clearly didn't by read any of the opinions written by the justices.  How have bad, racist, discriminatory or bigoted laws been enforced historically? We should review that since we've decided to return to some of that thinking about rights and how secure any of them are.
