What do you think about with current News and Opinions?

Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

By the way aside from topical News, anyone wanting a good historical read, should have a go at the East India Company. One of the most interesting companies that ever existed especially in reference to the Dutch and the French and the religious nonsense of Europe re the Spanish and Portuguese. Better than any thriller, any time or place. What a period of history!

You would then contextually realize that the English actually let America go because they were concentrating on India, China and what the French were doing in Europe. The East India Company could easily by itself beaten any European army and therefore would have destroyed ours because they were the first professionally trained army, with tactics and weapons that exceeded many countries except the Indians and the Chinese who really were the most powerful countries in the world at the time. Remember, the English had to divide and conquer the Indians and had to make addicts of the Chinese to conquer them. So the army sent to America was actually 2nd string. The English just had their hands in too many pies!

His address to the party faithful was a familiar screed to anyone who tuned in to his 2020 campaign rallies. He attacked President Joe Biden's foreign policy maneuvers, claimed Biden is destroying the economy, insisted that he deserves more credit for the rapid development of Covid-19 vaccines, and argued that the radical left and "cancel culture" are destroying America's freedoms. But it was his continuing disinformation campaign about the November presidential contest that was most disturbing -- in part because the past few months have proved that Trump's lies are now accepted as gospel by a majority of Republicans.

Yes, I do think we need to be worried.  The seeds of the Capitol takeover was planted by his rhetoric and he continues to have a platform to sow those seeds.

The sheer anger of people that say the election was "stolen" and their support of a military coup to reinstate Trump is very troublesome to me.

I know the sting of defeat.  I was pretty devastated when Gore lost to Bush but at the end of the day I understood that this is how Democracy works.  That despite all evidence to contrary that people passionately believe that Trump won and the current President should be overthrown is just absolute madness to me.  That they give him time on a stage is madness to me.

The only positive I see is that he is ripping the Republican Party apart and they deserve it.

So um, I saw this on Twitter this morning and I don't know if I want to laugh because whew chile, or if I want to feel sorry for him because I really believe there are mental forces at play here. Yes, he's a solid narcissist, but I also believe he has dementia kicking in at a rapid pace. I've been thinking he had dementia for a while now, even when he was in office, and I think it's getting worse. I believe his narcissism won't allow his ego to admit there's a problem and he's surrounded by yes men/women so no one is giving him the hard facts and he won't take the proper medication he needs. There may be drugs at play but I don't believe they're hard drugs like Jr., more in the realm of Adderall or ADD drugs he shouldn't be taking. Either way, the nurse in me won't let me fully laugh because I know better deep down.

The memes and jokes are hilarious but his mental health is very much a serious matter. Let me also add, the minions who follow him need therapy as well. No one with a clear mind and consciousness can see that presentation yesterday and not know something is clearly wrong.

Take your word for it. I have an allergic reaction to Trump's voice now so I can't listen to him. My psyche has decided that he lies with every word so therefore it isn't a good idea to listen. If only he was entertaining but except for what he's doing to republicans, there's nothing entertaining about him.

Primary Joe Manchin!

I've said it before and I will say it again!

Every Democrat should make it their life's work to destroy this guy and Sinema. Even if he comes over re the filibuster and HR1, they should remove him from every committee and take him apart and drive him to the republicans.

It's not the disagreeing that bothers me about him, it's his attitude and Selfishness! I also really believe that he's a republican stooge! I have NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER that he's taking money or kickbacks from some republican donors or is very involved with them in some way!!

His interview on Face the Nation was epic...he seemed foolish.

I wonder how many people in Trump's govt are going to be lobbyists or consultants for Russia, Israel and Saudi Arabia etc?

I am sure kushner has already staked out Israel, we know Manafort is for Ukraine and Flynn for Turkey which I am sure they will not give up, having made the contacts.

The Trump's curse might still affect all of their chances though. Already all real estate with his name is losing value in excess of current depreciation, what about the people associated with him?

Doesn't it show just what a pile of beans we have been sold re the specialness of our country when a two bit crook is able to march all the the way into the WH and despite his incompetence was so easily able to upend so many institutions? Supreme Court Justices, federal court judges, EPA, THE Post office, and worse of all expose our citizens for the morons they are in not only being taken in by him but in continuing to support him!

At least he was able to show us the weak points of our system and to have a Democrat like Joe Manchin be on the same level of stupidity as them, we really better start worrying about our future!

The first two paragraphs are already done, the public just hasn't had it confirmed yet. I think that's what's going to get them charged with RICO and treason.

The last paragraph is the truth. We now know the system is severely broken and where. Joe Manchin is a whole different hidden issue. He's a plant who got there as a Dem but was never really one to begin with.

Manchin is not a plant but a product of his state.  He stayed Democrat when others switched to being Republican to hold on to their political future. West Virginia is conservative and he's that rare breed of "conservative Democrat" and not as progressive in some areas.  In his state and senate career he's been bipartisan, someones going with the Democrats and other times with the Republicans.  When he's with the Democrats like ultimately voting for the stimulus package and allowing VP Harris to cast the deciding vote, all was well, when he does something Democrats don't like he's a traitor and a plant.

Sadly bipartisanship has eroded since 2000 and particularly since the Obama years.   Machin has said that if you can't get even one person from the other side to vote with you, you'd better take a look at that.  But in 2021 Republicans and Democrats alike automatically reject the other sides proposals without consideration, so perhaps Machin's ideas are outdated.

I have mixed feelings about him.  I like how during the budget negotiations he helped reel in the progressives from going to hog wild with spending.  I don't like how he voted on the voting issue, and I have mixed feelings about the filibuster.  Democrats have used it widely themselves, particularly during the Trump administration to block funding for his wall for example.

I stopped reading right there. I'm not a Dem nor GOP. Take your own words but apply them to GOP and that's exactly what you just did. Anyone who doesn't side with GOP or their ilk is automatically labeled as Dems or liberals. How about some of us just don't follow sociopathic BS no matter which party. Voting rights have been a 'thing' against non-white people for centuries. Why can't they get it together and vote for it and why is this, of all things, the sword he wants to fall on and act a damn fool?  I think both sides are FOS and serve white supremacy but go off though.

I'm sorry that I presumed you and Curious were Democrats and liberal.   I stand corrected in your case.

I certainly can appreciate not being labeled and just taking a stance on what you believe is right and just issue by issue.

I still disagree that he's a Republican plant or traitor.

I appreciate what you're saying about voting rights and can agree.

Joe Mancin is a conservative Democrat in a conservative Republican state. His belief in bipartisan Senate legislation is outdated when the Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell has for 10yrs. stated he will block Democrat legislation upfront, pushed through in 1 wk Supreme Court Justice in 2020 after denying on 2015 for months OBama's nominiee ---Merrick Garland, now head of DOJ and cleaning up the department.
