Poor, Teddy, struggling to stay in the news. He seems so hurt that yet another pasty white frat boy will not get a seat on the court.
Perhaps he can explain how Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett were the most qualified people when they were nominated?
He just doesn't get how having other life experiences and perspectives can bring value to a group. He would seem to prefer that all the justices go to the same high school, as did Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.

One the one hand the progressives wanting to make leadership representative of society means a lot on many levels.

Well, he did do such a great job with a black female, vice president.

Lyndsay Graham on the other hand does think the most qualified person is an African American female and states " “I can’t think of a better person for President Biden to consider for the supreme court than Michelle Childs,”
I'm so sure that there is a black, female candidate that will meet the standards of a Clarence Thomas or a Brett Kavenaugh. It used to be that judges were a crap shoot since they held their political leanings close to them but it's different now. I'd prefer a David Souter kind of a person. But I have no doubt that there are PLENTY of "qualified"(we've lowered our standards so much) black women who would be inspirational to young minority females and that's a long last legacy just in itself. The problem is getting them through a 50% Republican legislature that doesn't really like minorities or women.

Yep, that's going to be the narrative. No matter how liberal or progressive the nominee, the Republicans' hate of women and blacks will be the cause of their opposition.

There is no expectation of either ethics or morals in a part Trump government. With zero accountability for political appointees or elected officials and complete immunity for the most powerful person in the country there was no where to go but straight down the drain.
Perhaps it would be worth your time to read the article. The group was not being elevated by anything he said.
You did, however, provide an excellent example of just what DeSantis pointed out that Democrats are doing.
From a Johns Hopkins study:
"While this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to no public health effects, they have imposed enormous economic and social costs where they have been adopted. In consequence, lockdown policies are ill-founded. "

I know you're being sarcastic. But I think she's doing okay. It's pretty much the nature of the job that they are under intense scrutiny by the other party and largely ignored otherwise. It's a position that is invisible until they make a misstep or don't do something the other side wants (like visit the border) or not do want their own side wants (like when she got criticized for telling Central Americans to not come to America when they want her to make it easier).
Still, she's made dozen's of trips on Biden's behalf and seems quite focused, hardworking and capable. I understand her polling numbers are dismal along with Biden's.

Like I said, Republican men aren't crazy about minorities or women. Even Clarence Thomas married a white woman; a woman who is a total wing nut, but, unfortunately very activist in her zeal to have only uber conservatives apply for the SCOTUS job. Anyone else will be food for the hyenas.

For your logic to make sense, wouldn't he have had to have married a white man?

Let me repeat, conservatives seem intent upon elevating some really questionable "leaders" with the unique ability to coalesce differing groups under a common banner against a common perceived enemy. DeSantis may well be another example of the erosion of ethics in the GOP.

This is a man people want to the President.

It was a smear campaign. Democrats tried to take the issue DeSantis had no tie to and make it about him. He made it clear he's not going to play that game.
Would it have mattered? He did call the group "jack-asses" and "malcontents" Would anyone's opinion of him changed had he officially "condemned" them?
