I can't read the article but read a similar one on Fox News.  It does seem to favor people that can meet the subsidy qualifications but not necessarily to normal working class family that will have to deal with the increase in wages to childcare workers which in theory would raise costs for them and create a demand which would increase costs.

It's good to see Fox News trying to convince people using sources like economics and math for this issue.  They tend not to do that when it comes to their agenda like tax cuts or covid.

Machin again.  Apparently his concern is continued inflation.  The demand on goods and services the spending plan will place on an already stressed system will raise prices.  Probably a good point that isn't necessarily untrue. Also, it certainly is within his rights to flip flop.

I wonder if Manchin isn't getting some kind of pressure from somewhere.  Maybe he is compromised and responding to perceived threats.  What skeletons does he have lurking?

Except for Maria Bartiromo who seems to have lost her mind.  Especially when she agreed that the election had been rigged.

You almost have to wonder because the flip flop took people by surprise.

He's been saying for months he couldn't support this bill.  For a short time last week, at least if you believe what the Democrats are saying, he showed he might compromise.   In the end he couldn't do it.   And, he represents a state that went heavily for Trump.  Every county, I believe.

So, no,  not really a surprise.

I agree she seems to tow the line when it comes to being against Build Back Better, anti-Cuomo, etc. and hosted someone saying we'd best pass the military cow budget (long a sore spot with me).   All things consistentent with the Fox News republican agenda.

Overall Fox Business news still has the Fox News agenda, such as their article that Manchin saved us from "Economic Disaster" posted today.   But I do like that they tend to focus on math and economic science in some of their reporting.

It's not that they aren't reporting what is true, like I've always said, it's their slant, their spin and what they think is important news.

Natural disasters used to be the one time that we could all pull together and help the affected area be they a red or blue state.

It's a shame that partisan politics sometimes get in the way.  During hurricane Sandy when Obama visited and toured with Christie showing a united front Christie was actually criticized for making Obama look good.

These are the times to help and be compassionate.  We've lost that.

You haven't lost a thing as long as you write that check out to the state's website for relief funds that will go directly to the state.  It doesn't make any difference what your politics are - they need your money, not your belief system.

I know this is an aside but I really enjoyed her before she went off the rails and still use Moneyhoney as a financial password.  Maybe it's time to change that:(

Even though the should of "Let's Go Brandon" were published, I'd like to think the good people of Kentucky set aside politics when Biden came through.

We know being fully vaccinated with a booster keeps you from being seriously ill.  What we know so far about omicron is that it is less severe than the other variants.  We know most new cases are omicron.

So, what exactly does "not considered safe" mean?  And, why is a larger gathering not considered safe if you're vaccinated and boosted?  Show me the science.

"Top U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci said on Wednesday that attending large gatherings of over 40 people is not considered safe for vaccinated people, even those who got a booster dose."

I'm not sure we have a really good idea at this point what the morbidity and mortality is of Omicron given the long lag between new cases and deaths with Covid.  I certainly hope it's less harmful than other variants and at least so far we don't have reason to believe that vaccinated individuals are more likely to die from omicron than from delta, so it shouldn't change what is "safe" and what isn't for vaccinated individuals.

As I've pointed out before Fauci has not been a reliable source of recommendations throughout the pandemic, this should be viewed as being as reliable as anything else he's said.

It means that if we want to slow the spread of this very contagious virus we should avoid large crowds and stick to smaller gatherings of close contacts for these holidays.  Our objective is not just to reduce hospitalizations and deaths but to reduce cases and community spread with use of vaccination, masking and testing when outside of our close regular contacts.
