The claims are generally, when coming from Trump or his supporters, quite a bit less nuanced and more grandiose.  Trump, after all, claimed in his state of the union speech that the American economy was the best it had ever been.  That's an exaggeration at best but it's definitely not true. He hadn't exceeded historical GDP or unemployment rates.

Trump's claims and those of his supporters often ignore the Obama trajectory and talk as if the economy was in a tail spin when Trump got those electoral college votes in 2016. You've seen that language.

Trump is a corrupt liar who tanked our economy by ignoring and lying about a pandemic.  Trump bragged about being really really smart, having a big brain, and made crazy claims about what only he could do...those kind of people used to gather crowds at carnivals and circuses, now they are in republican politics.

If you compare Trump to a personal trainer, Trump would be the MTG of the crossfit gym.

And let's not forget how, during the Republican presidential debate, Trump bragged about the size of his member:)

I understand the initial reaction because everyone believed him,  not sure why the reporter doesn't understand that and wants and explanation as to why we believed him and were outraged.

No.  Not everyone believed him.  The "Trump supporters are racist homophobes" crowd is the  who bought in hook, line, and sinker.

What more do you want?  You want them to say "oh we only jumped on the story because we wanted to look good and pretend these things wouldn't be tolerated and especially because it was a Trump supporter that did it"?

Yes, something like that.

To be honest, that was because another republican candidate was suggesting that Trump's tiny  hands were indicative of a tiny member.  Was that the debate where Trump implied that vaccines might cause autism?

You didn't get enough of that kind of "jumped the shark" admission during the last presidency, eh? Wait, what? This wasn't an expectation for the previous president who had much to say about most things all over social media...you know up until he was banned for inflammatory lies and claims about people, processes and government function.  Now all of a sudden you want public humility.

Of course we all know how right wing media treats humility or compromise...that's pushed as liberal weakness.

Just because another "Little Marco" made the comment doesn't mean that Trump had to be low class and stupid enough to reply during a presidential debate.  What are they - 14 years old?

Well that's exactly correct, a smart man with a good sense of humor and even a shred of common sense or dignity would have laughed at Marco and let that go.

Yes, but then what would you have to talk about on a Saturday morning, with strangers,, six years later?

No not everyone believed.  The cult of Trump who believes in conspiracy theories made up some right away because "patriots" would never do this.

I would venture to say most people took it at face value, giving him the benefit of the doubt as decent people do.  It was only a matter of days that pep started to question it.  So we'll agree to disagree the initial reaction.

I read and talk about pretty much whatever they want to bring up. For instance, I read and talked about Piers Morgan's opinion about someone's ego because you thought it was interesting or relevant.

Authorities assess damage from tornadoes that hit 5 states and killed several people

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/12/11/live-updates-authorities-assess-damage-tornadoes-that-killed-least-4-people-5-states/

Yikes. The midwest just got slammed with crazy weather.  Mitch McConnell's constituents will be looking for some Marxist  (or is it socialist) tax dollars to build back better.

Unfortunately, there are frightenly few acute care hospital resources or beds available in that area for the care of those victims. Maybe pretending like covid isn't serious is as silly as pretending that climate change isn't real and all of that isn't going to hurt the working poor first and foremost.

Your comments disgust me. To politicize a tragedy like this is reprehensible.

P.S. Of the six states affected by the tornado outbreak, only two are in the Midwest; the rest are in the South.
