Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!
I have been trying to find out how much warning people had in Mayfield and Edwardsville. It's not easy to find but obviously it was a short period. Edwardesville weather predicted only 40 miles and hour winds without mentioning a tornado but I can't find anything yet about Mayfield. I am not insinuating that the companies did anything wrong but don't understand why more towns didn't have time to react. But with a storm of this severity, a basement shelter might not protect people as seems to be the case in Mayfield. I did read about one lucky dude who paid attention to his girlfriend who had a bad vibe about the weather, and convinced him not to go to work. It seems to me it wasn't only the 200 mph winds that were catastrophic but the lack of time to realize the dangers before people were given warnings. We also had very weird weather here in Michigan...events that I had never seen before. Continuous, non-stop thunder that didn't crescendo or decrescendo for about 30 minutes accompanied by lightening and wet snow and ice fog. It sounded like the snow plow was continuously circling the house at a steady speed for 30 minutes. This was 9 am in the morning.

At least the Biden administration has been able to forward some policy which increases access to daycare and preschool. That helps get parents and single mothers back into the workforce.
Of course, like many other things the government subsidizes, this plan will make daycare even more expensive.

How embarrassing for you.
You didn't make your post to say they needed help, did you? It was to again a opportunity to share your opinion of the media choices and covid related actions of conservatives in a certain area of the country.
No need to answer my question. We can all judge for ourselves.

I will always wonder how our economy might have faired had we pulled together to fight a common threat from a pandemic. Some Americans just desperately wanted to be liberated from public health recommendations. The president at the time encouraged them ... maybe that wasn't very smart.
Yes. I wonder how our economy might have faired had public trust not been damaged by politicians who implemented nonsensical and political motivated lockdowns and mandates, and if some of them hadn't been caught ignoring their own rules.

BS. The first paragraph of your 9 year old article says how Republican governors praised federal relief efforts. It then goes on to say how the words of many republicans "suggest" reducing the budget, then seems to reference a montage video that is no longer posted.
So, nothing there to back up your assertion they want to defund it. If they did, t would have happened since this article was written.
Do some want to decrease its budget? Possibly. The budget of government programs and their effectiveness should always be under scrutiny. What do you think the appropriate budget for FEMA should be.
I'm amused that after all your complaining about the opinions I sometimes post from biased sources, you throw out a old and one without much supporting facts from the Huff Post.

Just can't help but to throw in a personal barb, can't you. Disparage and discredit those with differing views....strait from the liberal playbook.

There's no need to answer your question because your question is nonsense based entirely in your bias and assumptions. Yes, we can all judge for ourselves how relevant your comment is to the topics at hand. Maybe you should discuss the tornadoes rather than your feelings triggered by my remarks.

Did you read that in your social media feed or hear it on AM radio.
The 3 industries receiving the most federal subsidies are oil, agriculture and transportation. Does federal subsidy make those products and services more expensive?

Pot, meet kettle...you seem kind of sensitive for someone who throws barbs while mischaracterizing the words of others.
At least she provides a citation.

LOL
Which lockdowns are you saying tanked the national economy? Mayors and governors are reasonable for the botched federal response to a national public health emergency? Maybe if there had been strong leadership from the executive branch there wouldn't have been so much chaos and confusion across the country. The fellow who bragged that only he could save us didn't even try...he just lied, encouraged noncompliance with masking and distancing and blamed whoever seemed convenient in the moment for his corrupt incompetence.

Simple supply and demand. You're subsidizing the demand side, without increasing the supply. Prices go up. The best example of this is higher education.

When confronted with examples of federal subsidies of private business and industry which challenge your beliefs you have pivoted the focus now to public education. Are your "differing views" supported by anything other than right wing rhetoric?

There isn't much I can do from my home anyway except give to the Red Cross. Beerman continues to believe that he has the franchise on compassion and yet remains faithful to a party of the stingy. My entire family was born in Kentucky so in a little way those are my peeps. Just because I note how they continue to vote against their interests doesn't mean that I don't understand what it's like to come out of the basement to see the world looking like a mile high egg beater took a tour at high speed through the neighborhood. We were lucky because we HAD a basement.
