Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!
It's complicated and I do get weary of the racist way people spew out "old white men........." and I agree that saying something equally derogatory about other races and genders would not be allowed.
But if you look at the power structure it is still white. But also I think that is changing albeit slower in the Republican Party
QuoteAmong today’s senators and representatives, the overwhelming majority of racial and ethnic minority members are Democrats (83%), while 17% are Republicans. This represents a shift from the last Congress, when just 10% of non-White lawmakers were Republican
I have seen a lot of changes in my lifetime and what I've seen is that while change ultimately prevailed it wasn't without resistance from the majority. When I was born gay bars were raided and gay people hauled off to jails and institutions. Ultimately through protest, lawsuits things got better and now a transgendered females are becoming Homecoming Queen. However, as I've seen in some of the school board meeting protests parents are pushing back against promoting the "homosexual agenda" whatever that is.
The same with civil rights for African Americans. Even them getting an equal education and attending a school with white people was met with resistance. Ultimately it's a non-issue today about where people go to school, but being treated without violence from the police still is front and center.
I think that majority angst as minorities rise up and demand fair and equal treatment there is going to be some resistance from the majority. Their privilege and power has to be acknowledged and challenged.

I'm practically an albino except I do have eyebrows ? that you can see, but it's just concentrating on this country white men perpetrate a lot of harm to anyone other than themselves. I fit right in and I have heard the things said about other people and women and it's not very nice.
Young guys I can understand, but older guys, absolutely not. Especially with the showing off, like trump with that Bush? reporter and grabbing women. What the hell was the point of that? Who was he trying to impress?
Perhaps the women who allow men who are rich to grab their p***y need to have their values examined. The race of either him or them is of no issues.

No one says there wasn't racism in the past or their isn't any now. However everyone has come a long way since slavery and Jim Crow. It was an evolution of a species. Also a whole lot of white men and women knew slavery and racism was wrong. They went to war for it. Both civil war and ww2. The majority of white people saw that it was wrong and went to war with other white people and their country men to end it. Is that nothing? Why don't we reconize that?
All human of all races have terrible histories. It's a human condition and in effect is what makes us equal.
My fear is if it's okay to do it to white people today, it will be done to another race tomorrow. Do we really want that to happen?
I don't thinkbits the gay agenda that's the issue. It the open concept of sex being taught to young children. Any kind of sex.
I take issue with someone demanding me to reconize their gender(which I will) while telling me my gender doesn't exist.
Or I can't say mothervor breastfeeding feeding and men can have babies. Nope sorry.

Please show me where white men are the subject of widespread or systemic discrimination in North America. Think about it, it's been acceptable in the USA to discriminate against indigenous or non white populations for the entirety of American history. Who is next in line for discrimination by the social group that has enjoyed the longest tenure of political and economic power in these USA?
As the elected offices and executive suites of huge corporate interests reflect more diversity, the cries of reverse discrimination become louder and more prevalent. It's to be expected. Those voices will be loudest on cable and radio programming and in social media commentary.
I'm not sure where you are from but racism hasn't been acceptable for many years. Except now to white people.
If you want to discuss "systemic racism " I need to know your definition first.

What exactly are you concerned about? Are you concerned that white people in the USA will be directly associated with generations of brutal, discrimination against and marginalization of blacks, native Americans and other non white groups? Are you concerned that an enormous wrong might be unequivocally examined and an accountability for the systemic racism be suggested?
It's curious that you can acknowledge the years of racism against non-whites by whites in the USA and then suggest that if we talk about white racism in the USA that somehow the people who have suffered the racism and discrimination baked into this society will somehow be "next". It makes two logical errors: 1. White people are not victims of racism or discrimination based upon skin color in the USA, and 2. People of color aren't in danger of being discriminated against in the future because white people are scrutinized...they ALREADY ARE VICTIMS OF THE RACISM.

It doesn't matter where I'm from. Are you denying that racist policy, behaviors, attitudes and language are not prevalent in and quietly ignored or accepted in communities across the USA? The racist treatment of native Americans continues to this day in the USA.
I don't create novel definitions for racist issues. I read about institutional, structural and systemic racism, historic examples of racism, current events that smack of racist influence and the thoughts of political leadership on matters of race. There are defining essays and articles about the topic of racism available from credible sources.

policies and practices that exist throughout a whole society or organization, and that result in and support a continued unfair advantage to some people and unfair or harmful treatment of others based on race:

What are you talking about when you say that it's about the "open concept of sex being taught to children"? What does that mean to you?
If individuals are making weird demands of you that is a personal problem that you should address with the creep. Your described scenario has nothing to do with societal gender discussions. Please don't try to imply that if you know a couple of other gendered a-holes that means that gender difference = rude weirdo.
You live in Canada and you can't say mother or breastfeeding? Really? I mean, you just mentioned them in a very public way...are you going to be visited by some ordinance officer or something?

They are against what they call Mediaographic literature in schools. I think that might be a discussion as to defining what is Mediaography.
But I'm going to disagree that there's pushback against the queer agenda that isn't Mediaography. They don't want any inclusiveness period. They don't want school aged children to read about anything related to being queer or differently gendered. Equality can't be maintained this way.
We can't take steps backwards like this. When I was growing up it was only white characters we read about in our required reading, the old "Dick and Jane" were always white.
I think there is a certain age, particularly high school students that can handle the fact that queer people are in the world.

Don't wait til high school! Kids in junior high are very aware of anybody who is "other" and old enough to discuss abstract ideals like acceptance and kindness. And I do know that not enough kids are being taught these ideals at home.
I was at the gym on the treadmill and I noticed on one of the TV's a "breaking news" story on Fox News and it was that Newsom signs controversial bill requiring ethic studies. I didn't have the sound on as I was reading but looked it up online. It's actually a story from a couple of days ago and not sure why it was "breaking news" today.
Their online story is actually kind of matter of fact and doesn't seem skewed in any way. It does present the objection of some that it's a doorway to Critical Race Theory but that's fair to present all sides.

I will reply soon. However, I can't wait to point out your total disregard to the point I made about the "white men and women" fighting and losing their lives to take down the Nazi' and abolish slavery in the civil war! Kinda destroys "Whites are the author comment you made.

Yeah...the original American antifa fought against nazis. But when the civil war was fought, slavery was illegal in the USA. The Civil War was was not fought to free the slaves, it was fought to preserve the union because the social conservatives at the time would rather destroy the country than change views about oppression. The slave states were fighting to preserve their right to enslave others and in order to maintain slavery they wanted to leave the United States.
No, the reality that white people are the authors of North American racism is not destroyed by the fact that white people fought against facists or against secessionists.
