Well, I just started human lifespan and developement for spring and for summer, I'll be taking a CNA course which won't count as college credit for nursing but at least I'll be able to start working in health care. All pre-requs are done, now I'm just working on co-reqs such as sociology, speech and psych 206. Are you guys working on pre-requs for bacholors or associate degrees? Also at our school, we can't take things like pharmacology or nursing 1 unless we're offially in the nursing program, what about your school?

i'm having a hard time deciding how many credits I should take over the summer. I'm not working and I plan to take my courses online. Is a 12 credit load too much normally for the summer? I know i varies from person to person, but i just don't know.

I feel like I have been in college so long, and I still don't even have an Associates Degree. I will be so happy when I finally get into Nursing School, so that I can feel like I am getting closer to my goals.

I am debating about this. I am studying to take the CLEP test for human growth and development, so I will take that test soon. But I am debating about trying to take A&P 1 in a condensed version through part of the summer. I am kind of torn about it, I can push myself now and have one less class when I start nursing school in the fall, or I can just wait and relax and bring it all on in the fall! Now I work, so the class would mean I leave straight from work, go to class from 6-9:45 PM, four days a week...in nursing school I won't work, but I will have to take coreqs that many students have already gotten out of the way (A&P 1 and 2 and Micro)...not sure what I should do.... Part of me just thinks that I should enjoy my freedom and lower stress levels now because once this ride starts it is going for two years...part of me thinks I should at least try to get one out of the way. Any suggestions or opinions?

OMG...we are in the exact same situation!!!!! I too am debating whether to take A/P in the summer or in the fall with my nursing classes. I work now too, and wonder if I should just enjoy my summer and take the class in the fall, or get it out of the way and take it this summer. I'm sooooooooo torn about this too!
Pumpkin- I totally understand this.....

I have a ton of classes...first I was working on my associates, then I was working on my bachelors (but didn't get my associates because I was at a university)...now I have a lot of classes and no degree whatsoever!! I always joke that I could probably have a bachelors degree with all the classes I have accumulated! It's a little discouraging when I look back on it, but hey, I am finally on the right track!

My last year has been brutal!!! I have worked fulltime all through out and somehow i have seemed to have survived although now that i know i've been accepted into a nursing school and i graduate with my AA on the 28th i'm feeling so unmotivated to finish it out like i should. I feel like i've run into a wall I've got to suck it up to keep my GPA on top...you never know when slacking off can come and bite you in the a%@
...and for those of you debating whether to take the summer off...if it was me i would...because once nursing school starts...it's gonna be brutal...have your calm before the storm because the storm lasts two years!

That is the same thing that happened to me! You are right we are on the right track now. My father always says to me, "There is no such thing as wasted education."
