  1. www.salliemae.com I have used for 2 years and all of my family and friends use this lender. They offer private loans on top of federal loans. Deferred payment, good rates, great customer service.
  2. good luck! you hubby sounds sweet! Lisa
  3. WOW congrats everyone!
  4. Hey all I havent been on in a while... finals and all. How did everyone do?! I feel so much more confident after this semester, I got an A in my 5 credit A&P course. BUT getting an A in that class definantly hurt some of my other courses. But I have a 3.1 now, and need a 2.5 for the program. How do you guys do it? I'm not even in the BSN program yet and I'm ready to go nuts with stress haha. And I just thought I would have a positive vent and say that i am HAPPY for myself I am doing better! (This is my second semester, first at this school, I did horribly at the first. I blame it on lack of focus, sickness, and a devil of a teacher.) [bANANA]hope you all did well [/bANANA] Lisa
  5. No I am not a CNA. I am a "residential assistant" i pass meds, transport individuals in wheelchairs, and I do basic living assistance.... all off a weekends worth of training. The shifts kill me. I WISH I could find some phlebotomy courses starting in the summer.... no luck so far
  6. I am looking for a second job because my job now only has 2 twelve hour shifts... noon to midnight and midnight to noon. I work in a group home with MRDD individuals. So with school it is impossible to get hours during the week. I work Fridays and everyother Saturday and Sunday. AND LISA IS BROKE! So a hospital close to me trains you to be a nurse tech/aide BUT you arent trained to take the certification test. Just to work for them. Should I do this? I could maybe squeeze in every other weekend and one or two days a week. I am just scared I will get overwhelmed. what would you do??
  7. :smackingf I am in Akron Ohio.... and I know of 3 different people that are in that boat... all went that route before nursing to have a job that will help them pay for NS. They went to Brown Mackie. It is around 24,000 a year there. Now they are left with a loan for a job that isn't as available as say, a CNA position. The credits don't transfer, to pretty much any school. Good Luck to your friend!
  8. What do your schedules look like?? I am applying next spring... so I have some key* classes coming up. lol Now I have a 90.93% in A&P I think I need to get in a "safer" zone of an A!!...my A&P is not divided into I and II, its a 5 credit class!! Summer 07: Fundamentals of Chem Organic Chem Art Survey (ick dumb gen. ed.)Fall 07: Micro Intro to Prof. Nursing Sociology (again!! since my credit from another school didnt Xfer) College Writing II EthicsSpring 08: Child Psych Philosophy Intuitive Calc :barf01: Media Power Culture uck..my spring is filled with nonsense... i need to stay full time for health insurance:lol2:
  9. OH MY!! SOMEONE JUST LIKE ME! I feel pretty comfortable in my group home now. I love that feeling. Those are definantly just things that everyone deals with. And I have definantly been at a job with a horrible boss, it seriously just eats away at you! I hope that we both can toughen up our skins and be confident, educated nurses! Good Luck to you too!:w00t:
  10. I won't be applying until next spring either... It seems a long ways away... but just think how fast this year is going!! It is April already!!
  11. :welcome: hi there!
  12. Yeah... its just an overwhelming thought... lol Thanks for the assurance! It freaked me out a teeny bit... one of the forums here, I dont remember which.. was full of complaints on how it is so hard and so many wanted to quit within their first year and hated it.
  13. can you apply to more than one school for the nursing program?
  14. sorry just kinda venting... i think i can pretty much say i am terrified to be a nurse. no, not to be a nurse, but i have some worries: 1. i am the type of person that would take the "abuse" of new nurses hard. the politics etc... it tears me up when people act in a negative way towards me. 2. how can i possibly feel that i will know enough? feel professional? 3. i am a homecare worker in group homes for individuals with mrdd, so i have mar/documentation experience... but med errors are big deals, and you have so many patients to deal with. :smackingf 4. i am in college, but i don't really feel like a grown up... lol 5. i hate the feeling you have with a new job when you havent gotten into the swing of things... it takes time and there is always so much to learn on your own on how everything runs. but once you feel like you are in the nich of a job, it a great feeling. i don't know, maybe i just need confidence. and i decided to take organic chemistry in a 5 week summer session. oh save me. lisa
  15. yes, i pass meds! i know, i get that all the time. all of the resident assistants, home managers, and program coordinators for each house can pass meds. it was part of my orientation i am a "delegated nurse"... but i guess they aren't called that anymore... possibly "delegated med passer", i'd have to look in my company manual. i was trained by one of the lpn's in our company to pass oral, topical, lady partsl, anal, emergecy meds... etc... it was one of our little sections of orientation. when you are in a house that has individuals with g-tubes... you also get trained for that. we use mars, initial and everything, under our name not a higher positioned person.
