I feel like I learn of a new specialty every day-- I know some who's personal experiences draw them to a particular area of focus, but my top choices, I think are more related to my personality: Radiology, ICU, Med/Surg, and Cardiac all make the top of my list for their technical and critical demands.
I'll be happy to get A job after graduating this December but I would LOVE to work in the ED. Then I would love to become a flight nurse! That will be the pinnacle of my career :) Can you imagine the skill set/critical thinking skills of a flight nurse? Wowzers, I tip my hat to them. Definitely caught the EMS bug when I took an EMT class before nursing school.
Not surprised by the # of folks interested in L&D, pedi/NICU. However, happily surprised to see many others interested in working w/ the elderly!
Geriatrics calls to me, although I would also love to specialize in infectious disease. I would like to have an opportunity to work in the ER as an RN (just starting school) and we'll see if that changes my mind.
I want to work in labor and delivery or surgery. I have been fascinated with surgery every since I had my first c-section done. I know that may sound weird, but I want really get a good look at the real human anatomy. I wanted to work in labor and delivery since I was 15. I got to see my older sister give birth. I wanted to be part of bringing new life to the world.

Yep! It's one of the beauties of nursing. If you don't like your speciality or you're feeling burnt out or bored,, move on to the next :)
